Windows stick up in cold

Post by MOVibe »

Does anyone have problems with their windows sticking to the exterior window weatherstripping when it gets cold? When I lift the switch the window moves about 1/8", and then stops. I can see the exterior weatherstripping moving with the window. this happened on all windows, but the drivers window was the worst. This started last night, and froze again this morning. It snowed very lightly 2 days ago.I have power windows, and this is the first time it has been below freezing since I got the car.Any thoughts?

mine did this, but we had rain, then it froze overnight so my windows and doors are semi frozen. but in my situation i think everyone that parked outside has the same issue.

maybe some silicon stuff would help. [disclaimer] I've never had the problem or done anything to the various seals and weather strips on my Vibe, so I am not speaking from experience on this topic.[/disclaimer]

I do not think it would be a good idea to put lubracant of any kind on the weatherstripping, as it would come off on the window every time it went down, then up.Thanks for the thought though.

Well weather strip lube can smudge on the windows when they go up and down. But be careful lowering those wondows if they are frozen, you do not want to break/bend a window regulator. my windows freeeze all the time to so I never lower them unless I have to. I'll even go inside at fast food places instead of the drive through... unless I know my window is not frozen lol.

unless you need to open your window right away, what i do is point the dash vent closest to my window towards my window and crank the heat. That usually melts at least half the window enough to get the window down.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

OH... well if your doors are frozen shut, by all means use weather strip lube, that won't streak the windows, just don't spray it on the windows.

yea exactly mav, as for the windows i think atomb is the best way, althou it might take a bit of time to heat the whole window... OHHH what about the window deflector rain thingy, that would help keep rain from getting on the top of the window so it couldnt freeze it shut.

for my vents, the driver's far left one and the passanger far right one face the windows all the time. I then have the remaining two, one facing me and one directed down to the shifter since I'm usually always the occupant.
