Teaching finace to drive 5 speed

Post by rlfreese »

I have been teaching my finace to drive a 5 speed and it is hilarious. She finally go the starting off thing and shifting is easy once you are moving but when she got stopped on a hill all hell broke loose, on my clutch that is. Man i have never seen so much smoke in my life. I have 20000 on my 05 and never seen it smoke like that. I finally got the smell out now as well. She is gettingit slowly but that uphill thing is a P.I.T.A. around here. We live in the mountains. just thought i would share the story with yall.

My long time girlfriend (since become an ex) bought a new 5 speed Hyundi but didn't know how to drive it. I drove it for three months till I forced her to give me back my Chev. I took her to my college's parking lot and bumped around for an hour. It was messy and there was a lot of crying. She eventually did figure it out. I saw a picture of her recently: she's gained a lot of weight

i have taught many people who went out and bought a stick w/out knowing how to actually drive it. the latest and most difficult was a '68 mustang. that clutch was hard for me to drive and man it was really really funny watching him try to start and drive that thing, he almost hit something even in an almost empty parking lot.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who's learning the dreaded stick. I guess I don't have a choice because the GT is a 6 speed only!

back when my wife and i were still dating, i also thaught her how to drive. i met her young. so i taught her to drive plus stick. loli respect people who go and buy a stick to learn how to. my last car was a stick. i didn't know how to drive stick. i've always known the comcept, just never put it into practice. i did alright after test driving a few sticks. my wife on the other hand. still after 3 years of stick, i still have to tell her to shift sometimes. ha hai just hope she doesn't burn your clutch.

I give my wife's dad credit - he saw fit to teach his kids how to drive a stick when they were learning to drive. Wife was a tich rusty with the vibe - with the lack of lowend torque, it's easy to kill when starting.

In 79 I bought an RX7 after once or twice around the block in my friends VW. Drove almost 100 mi. home. Killed it once leaving the lot. Can you say no torque. I doubt that there is still anything as good as that car was to drift. You could go around a corner sideways on the gas and lift to snap ir back in line. I was young and stupid. Sorry, I'm drifting.
