after watching Advent Children, I feel like digging out my old FF7 and replaying it. They did a tech demo of the FF7 opening sequence for the PS3 (but with no promises they would actually make the whole game) and WOW it was awsome. Gotta love backwards compatible.

Well, did anyone get one? I went to the Navy Exchange thinking I would be better off than Walmart or anywhere else. It opens at 9am and I got there at 8:15. I was #20 in line and they came out and said "Mr. Bill Gates and Microsoft has given us 13 systems, here is #13". Guess I'll be waiting a little longer , but I read somewhere that they are supposed to be releasing more each week.

this reminds me of the christmas when the N64 was released. i went to hell and back looking for one with my father. only one place had 1 one. we paid (HE, i was 14 or so) 310$. MSRP at the time 199$. it was the core system.when ever a new console is released right around christmas. havoc occours. maybe if you gys are willing to pay premium. ebay is sure to have some.

Well one of the microsoft guys openly announced they were not trying to do the "underproduce" for shipments like the gaming industry is known for. They are working 24/7 turning these out as fast as possible. I bet all your systems went to the launch. I watched that last night. Wow... like 3 FULL truck loads!

this x360 shortage imo is a joke. ive read enough and heard enough from MS and others that they were supposed to make plenty, but are making the shortage to gain demand and make people think they have to get it and pay the huge prices for bundles etc. they are going on ebay for 2500 or more...http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2...rtage/more theory for ya. look at best buy, they in duluth...yea duluth a small hick village that college kids keep alive had 40 units, while other places had half or less. AND any preorders yea...like 5 per store, so lame, preorders should be before retailers but alas no, they want hype. i think its all a scam from MS.

At the launch they had a airplane hanger FULL of people and everyone there left with a 360 xbox. There was a huge line up at Best Buy in Seattle, New York and some place in cali on G4 live footage last night. Not sure why there was over one hundred people in line at those locations. Come on seriously. You think that the odds of any of the first 10-15 people in line would pass up getting the system after all and so would the next 30 or so people so that you way back there at the back of the line of a 100 could get one? Heck no... you wouldn't catch me out there. The PS2 launch, I had already bought and paid for mine which confirmed I'd get it. I was 1-3 at Whiteoak's EB store in London out of 5 people in total to get one opening day. The store even opened early for the three of us already there to get ours. But I sure didn't make a big show of "WHOO HOO I GOT ONE!!!" when I left. Thats asking to be mugged lol.

This reminds me of 5 years ago when the PS2 came out. The shortage, the hype, the idea that the company is purposely keeping a low supply to increase demand, outrageous Ebay sales, etc. Seeing them sell so highly on Ebay makes me think I should have tried to pick one up to sell LOL.

$399 is pushing the limits of what the masses will spend on a system. And with 3rd party games being $59.99 now it really stretches peoples budgets. Microsoft want millions of systems in houses, you cant price a system to high or that wont happen. Where microsoft is making the $$ is off all the 1st party controllers, play and charge kits, and such.

Well I'd never pay $5000 for a system. Heck thats a nice down payment on a house or an STi. As for games costing $60 USD... well welcome to the canadian market. In ontario, most video games go from $64.95 PLUS 15% tax at Walmart to $75+ at EB Games not including tax. So for me... $60 on a game USD is not a price thats unreasonable. As for a new system, I'm sure the PS3 won't be less then $400 either. I'll buy one regardless of the retail cost when it comes out. Its got launch titles I can't do without lol. I spent $450 CAD plus tax when the PS2 launched a couple of years back.

I went to Best Buy yesterday to pick up a DVD and looked at the 360 demo again. I was more impressed and saw some footage/trailers on G4 tv last night. It looked pretty good. I wouldn't mind having one, but I already have too many PS2 games that I need to play. I don't see how all those people bid on that one auction above for $5200 for the 360 and the guy didn't even have it in stock. I mean, I could just post an auction and say I'll ship it when I get it in stock (which would mean me just finding one at store eventually). That just seems unbelievable, the $800-1000 range sounds a lot more reasonable, although I would never even pay that.

A friend of mine and I paid three 17 yr olds $100 (total not each) to spend the night at Target. We got 3 core systems (premiums were gone) and we sold them on eBay (got $2000 total). After all is said and done (taxes, fees, shipping, etc) we should end up with about $800 profit. Not really what we expected, but we also planned on getting the Xbox 360 premium edition and not the core systems.

But the thread count is still rather low considering the numbers in the hands of people now.I think we'll be seeing a lot of smaller devices with big external power supplies - I don't mind it really - they're easy to hide behind whatever I'm putting the device in/on.The Mac Cube did the same to make it look small and cute... I think a lot of the iMacs do this as well. If they 360 is pumping out the specs that I read - I wonder if the PSU (power supply unit) it uses has some heat disipation problems - every PSU I've had in my computers has been air cooled.

im surprised the power unit doesnt have fans lots of laptop psu's get super hot, if ps3's is on the outside ill be rigging up a fan system for it 1. so its cooler and doesnt burn out 2. because im nerdy like that as for backward compatibility it would suck to test, they have to do it by hand, loading in the game and trying it out...oh wait...id hate to have to play games ALL day and getting paid

No problems with mine yet *fingers crossedThe power supply does get pretty d@#% hot... been putting it through the ringer with NFSMW, Call of Duty 2 and Kameo. I think my roomate has been running it since 11pm last night and it's 8:30pm now, won't be surprised if he burns it up for me (then he can buy me a new one). He's had his a$$ sitting on my couch for nearly 24 hours playing my xbox... not sure how to get him off the couch and off my 360, any ideas?

The bad thing is there was only a limited amount of the big package with the hard drive so he eneded up getting the smaller package. Either way he has 2, one we play with and the other he thinks he might sell for the right deal.

reading in USA today, there was an article about 360's and their short supply and demand. according to MS, the defect percentage is less than 3%. 3-5% is the expected (acceptable) marging for new toy products. they also went into how they are planning to supply them. instead of making a ton of them and selling them on relase day. they are going to be suppling them on weekly basis.so basically, the isn't a shortage. by the end of this week, MS claims a nother load of them will be delivered. maybe it'll sell out, maybe it won't. i expect it too sell out. i'm considering making business of one this time around.
