1000 Miles

Post by djb383 »

Just got back from a 1000 mile round trip to south Texas (death in family) and my home-made ram air/CAI worked extremely well in my opinion. Averaged 36.3 mpg and the (removed) Dyno still tells me it has more pep than stock. Lots of bugs in the air box below the air filter (but easily cleaned) and this tells me I'm getting a bunch of good, cool outside air to the intake.

Awsomehave you thought of putting a mesh up to allow air in but no bugs at your ram air opening?

yep, that's what i did with my hood scoop. i used gutter guard to keep the bugs and leaves out and so far, it's working great! same thing with all the grill openings to keep the radiator nice and clean!

Nice to see that your home made ram air works.

Thanks for the suggestion, I may give it a try, but since the factory box is so easy to clean, I may just leave it as is (don't want too much turbulence in the intake - hahahahaha)
