New 2006 & 2005 GM pricing plan starts

Post by nortsr »

Monday, Nov.14th. ALL 2006 and 2005 GM vehicles will be "red tagged" at GMS (General Motors Supplier Pricing) plus $100.00. The rebates can still be used with this new pricing plan and will continue until Jan.3rd, 2006. Check out today's http://www.autoblog.com . When I say "all" I do not know if that includes certain models such as Corvettes, etc. I also received an Email from one of my Email GM sales reps that said I should "hurry" in while the pickings were good. I believe they will not go as fast as when the GM Employee price plan went into effect and since it runs until Jan.3rd, I believe there will be ample time to take advantage of the "Red Tag" sale. With the $500.00 Vibe rebate and $500.00 Conquest incentive that should give a new 2006 Vibe buyer a pretty good deal. I believe GMS price is approximatly 2% more than GM Employee pricing.

But I believe what nortsr meant by GMS is GM supplier . . . just guessing though.BTW, if anyone knows anyone that works for GM, they're still doing GM in the Driveway, that gets supplier pricing on most vehicles. Most GM employees get a couple of these a month.

You lost me about the GMS price. I always thought that the GMID price and the GMS price were the SAME and that GM employee pricing was "Less" than GMS and GMID pricing. I recently read that the new GMS price (red tag) offer is apporox. 2% less than invoice. and today I read that the EXACt deduction for a Pontiac Vibe under the new GMS (red tag) pricing was exactly $692.00 LESS (or Minus) the Base Vibe price. I am now totally confused with what yo have stated???? If GMS is Genaeral Motors Supplier Price (and I assume that is what GMS stands for, what the heck is the difference between the GMS price and the "Supplier" price which you claim is the "same" as the Employee price. I do not believe that GM "suppliers" get the Employee price...only the employees and certain family members are entitled to that lowest price??? When GM offered GM Employee pricing a couple of months ago , then, yes, everyone received the "Employee price". I do not believe the "supplier price" is quite as good as the "Employee price . Please correct me if I am wrong, as you now have me totally confused!!!!

I just priced out a base 2006 Vibe with the power package, sport package and the automatic transmission. MSRP came to $20,195.00. The same configuration came to $18,742.00 Invoice. I then went to the GM site, priced out the same configuration and then clicked on the "RED TAG" price and it came out to $19,142.30. That's $403.30 Over invoice and GM "did away" with the $500.00 rebate. I don't see that as a Sale! The local Toyota dealer is selling the Matrix' at INVOICE and they are less to start with. It seems to me they might as well go back to the Employee pricing and get it the heck over with.

Jake 75....I agree that the rebate is still there on their website. Please go to Edmundsforums.com....click onto the Smart Shopper Forum and then click on to the Rebates, Incentives topic and go to post#3423. One of our Genvibe posters has this experience and stands to lose $500.00 because of the Red Tag sale. He claims that THREE different dealers told him the same thing. No rebate??? I personally don't knoiw if they include the rebate in the red tag sale...but...."they do not" with out posters statements.

What is the pricing formula for the GMID certificates that you receive from a GM employee. Is that the same as the GMS that you posted???

Its not so much a formula as a stated price that is lower than sticker price. GMS (employee) pricing is supposed to be the lowest prices available for new, unused vehicles. That should have been the same pricing that everyone was getting during the Employee Prices for Everyone promotion, although I never checked to compare. Supplier pricing is a bit higher than employee pricing, but still lower than sticker price. This is supposed to be the same pricing schedule as the GM in the Driveway pricing.Red tag pricing, as I understand it is supplier pricing +$100. So, there should only be a $100 difference between Red Tag prices and GMID prices. Also, once again, employee pricing is called GMS for short.Supplier pricing is called supplier pricing. I understand people wanting to call GM Supplier pricing GMS, but that is starting to confuse things around here and thats not what it is called. These are not my terms, but those of GM.
