I just started noticing (after I accidentally had the stereo off during start) that everytime I drive off (either from reversing first or right off Park), after a second or two of stepping on the gas, there is this noise that sounds like pressure being released. It sounds like it's coming from somewhere under the front half of the car.. anyone else noticing this on their vibe?? My dad's 03 vibe doesn't have this noise....[edit] I am noticing this sound only when I drive off slowly after being parked (either straight from P to D or P to R to D - no this is not a P Diddy song..)
I posted the same queston elsewhere. Is it a "ding" type sound? If yes.. then, Some believe it is the ABS turning on. Which takes about one rotation of the tire(s) to work. Or it is the brake pads or shims shifting when changing direction. Matrix and Corolla owners mention this "ding" sound. Does you or your Dad's car have ABS? here's my other thread.. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=19737

Hey thanks for the heads up and link to the other thread.. I've been away for the last couple of weeks so I've missed a lot of thread activity..It might be an ABS thing since my dad does NOT have ABS and he's vibe does not make this noise..
how do i know if mine has abs...either i totally forgot if mine did...which is odd, or i just never remember from purchase....mm not like me but im at work still.

If you screech like a fool then you dont.

Just an update.. I just noticed if I shift to drive but keep pressing the brake partly and let the car roll forward it won't make the sound until I completely take my foot of the brake. Sound come on whether I'm pressing on the gas or not.
just read the other thread http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=19737 and noticed jasonvibe's post about it being an ABS thing and actually written in the manual! This goes to show you how important it is to read the manual first !!
my wife just bought a 06 vibe in august. have had a chirp or beep noise from the beginning. dealer said today that it is the abs system and they can't fix this . this is a normal noise. it only does it when you first start it up and go forward. any one else have this?
