Hope someone can help. The Gentex autodimming compass mirror I picked up at the local boneyard has three wires coming out of the harness on the back of the mirror. Two are black/pink (pin 1 and pin 3) and the third is black. Which one's which? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if the wire harness is th etype that pulls off. then it has the label printed on the inside of the mirror. you can see by looking inside of the connector.
OK, so which one of the two pink/black wires goes to the fusebox? I bought one of those Add a Fuse harnesses. And where do I wire the other pink/black? Sorry to be redundant, but this thing's starting to tick me off.......

I'm not finding anywhere that shows two black wires with pink stripes... However, this thread could be of some use to you as it shows a pinout.Judging by what I see on the above site and taking wire color out of consideration: Pin 1 probably needs to go to +12V, switched with the ignition, you do not want a constant voltage for this application. Pin 3 is probably for reverse sensing, i.e. when you shift to reverse, +12V is sent to the mirror and it disables dimming. You shouldn't even need to hook that up unless you really want to - I don't have it on mine, can't say that I have ever needed it. Where is your solid black wire? Does that connect to pin 2? Looks like that would be your ground.I've found links to installation manuals on Gentex's site, unfortunately it is prompting for a user when trying to follow the links. Perhaps you could try to contact someone there for assistance.I have the basic Gentex electrochromic mirror - no compass/temp/etc. It only has two connections, +12V and ground. +12V is the pin closest to the mirror mount, the next one over is ground, same as the diagram. Pure speculation, but I don't see why the pinout on yours would be that much different.Be careful with my advice though, if you fry the mirror, I am not responsible.

Just as an FYI, the mirror came out of an '03 Sable. Cost at the salvage yard was $15 including the harness. Interested parties can check http://www.car-part.com for the mirror.
