At least I hope it turns out to be helpful...While I was standing waiting for the bus, the girl next to me saw a car attempting to park in a no-parking zone back into the red Vibe I always see parked in that general area. Unfortunately I was looking the other way so I didn't see the actual act, but she said the Vibe actually moved backward and I did see the aftermath, wherein the corner of his car's bumper was crammed into the front fascia on the Vibe. Man if someone did that to my car I'd be pissed. That's why I don't ever park in those parallel spots, but as a student with a blue permit they didn't really have a choice. We left a note on their windshield with the license number of the car that hit them, and I just called the university police to report it, so hopefully justice will be done.So on the off chance that this person lurks or posts here...if you go to Miami University, drive a lava monotone 03-04 and you always park on Oak Street, some careless person damaged your Vibe and didn't even notice or care. I hope the police can get out there in time to see it so their insurance will have to cover it, not yours.
A similar fate happened to my previous car.. Great that the two accidents i've had were when it was parked, and I wasn't in the car..Wish there was someone as helpful as you to leave a note!

I just hope it helps them track the person down and file a proper police report, especially since they have two witnesses and the MU police have all of my info since I called them. The reason I do things like this is because I would hope that someone would do the same for me...although I know it's probably wishful thinking.
Hey, you never know! When my car was being broken into a few months back, it was a complete stranger who stopped them and got the on-site police officer to the scene. If not for them, who know what condition my vehicle might have ended up.
yes, nowadays, people don't want to take responsibility for their actions. sad really. i hope the culprit gets caught and they pay for the damages done.
I've done that for a guy once too. I saw a truck pull into a spot and nail a car and leave. So I wrote down the LP# and told the guy when he got out of the store.its all about Karma
That definitely sucks, but kudos to you guys for helping out. You did the right thing, and I'm sure the Vibe owner will be thankful.Hopefully things will work out for the Viber... I hope they aren't too upset about it, this may work out in their favor. They can finally get a decent paint job on the front bumper, probably much better than what it had when it left NUMMI and thanks to you guys seeing the person who was responsible, having the guilty party's insurance pick up the tab.

If that were my car, I'd be grateful for the info. When we lived at our apartment, my bf smacked the Vibe door into the neighbouring car (we were packed in like sardines!) and it took a bit of paint off. He felt really bad and left a note saying he had taken a bit of paint. She never responded at all. But we felt better having owned up to it. Too bad the other neighbouring car (on the passenger side) didn't feel the same way. She constantly smacked Sputnik with her extra large two door! I've got the black dings to prove it.
