My muffler & tip replacement is completed. I listened to the clips you all posted here and at MO of the Magnaflow, Borla, and others and I just didn't like the tone of them. I'm a classic muscle car guy and the idea of sticking a raspy kazoo on the end of my car made me cringe. I'm also not a big fan of melon-shooter sized tips either ... for me I wanted a little more rumble with almost zero increase in interior noise along with better flow, but with adequate backpressure to keep the torque near stock levels -- all of course in a "sleeper" package. My only alternative was a full custom setup. So I chose the following components, picked an installer, and had it done:Muffler: Dynomax 17746 - $45Exhaust Tip: Flowmaster 15360 - $35I don't have sound clips right now, but really there is almost no interior noise increase, and a little more rumble in the back, especially when it hits lift. There is a noticable imprevement in power, and there is a noticable reduction in weight too -- that stock muffler weighed a ton!!!Rear AppearanceSide/Rear AppearanceTip DetailInstall Pic #1Install Pic #2 - note that the stock hanger mount was cut off and reused on this side ...Install Pic #3Install Pic #4 - the hanger on this side had to be custom fabbed ...I'm really pleased with the workmanship -- I'm really glad I took it to Rob over at Advanced Differential. Their expertise is rock-crawlers, but they obviously can do a few other things really well!!!

Found the audio files I used in selecting this setup -- they were on dynomax's website. These files were recorded on a 2000 Civic with a 1.6L VTEC so it does sound a bit different, but I think its a fair representation. These sound files are from a Dynomax canned kit -- but the muffler specs are nearly identical -- just different inlet and outlet locations, and different construction material (stainless vs. standard steel) These sound files were probably recorded with a bumper mic or something ...Stockhttp://www.dynomax.com/audio/track18.wavDynomax Setuphttp://www.dynomax.com/audio/track19.wav

How much was this for labor? I'm thinking of doing something similar especially since a local muffler shop is offering 10% anything over 50$. How long did it take them? Thanks!

Took about 4 hours -- the hanging of the muffler was the trickiest part I guess. Labor cost was about $150.Yep, still lovin it! With muffler and short ram I'm getting 29MPG city on Ethanol winter gas .... loooove it!!!
