Just a quick question regarding seat belt buzzer going off when you unbuckle to park...can it be disconnected? There should be a delay or something...it drives me nuts.Other question is the automatic door locks when in drive.......when I drop off a passenger and shift back into park....the doors remain locked.....this stinks... i always have to hit the power lock button. Can I change the setting somewhere.Thanks. Oh ya.it's a 2005 AWD, moonroof, power option.
You have programable locks? It would be a personalization setting you could do yourself so it unlocks when put into park, I'd suggest reading your owners manual to see all the funtions. As for the light/buzzer? not sure but I'm sure someone else here has an idea. And welcome aboard to Genvibe! awsome to see another Ontario member.

Yep... '05/automatic only. That's actually a feature I would like to have, I was wondering what it would take to add it to my '03. Probably easiest thing would be to trade the car in. lol

Get an aftermarket keyless / alarm / remote start system. It could just be a simple keyless replacement. Most of them can be programmed to lock upon turning the ignition on, and unlock with ignition off. That's what mine does.

The programable door locks only come with the auto. What about those of us who drive manuals? I'd love to have auto locks. Not that pushing the lock button is that difficult, but it would be a nice feature anyway.

well how would it work with a manual transmission? See the locking system probably detects the vehicle is in park through the neutral safety switch (my guess anyway) and since manual transmissions go into neutral every time we shift, and with no park... and we're always in first gear at the light... just exactly how would it know to unlock the doors. Like when would it? lol only way I can see it was if its connected to the e-brake somehow but then then every time you pulled that the doors would unlock and lock.

I dunno how it would work right off, but my 2000 Golf has it. I'm thinking it happens once the speedo hits 10 or 20 mph. I love that function, and miss it in my Vibe.hjwii

it's not that pushing the lock button is difficult....it's that if you are just dropping someone off, or jumping out of the car quickly to get something out of the hatch then you always forget the doors are locked until you turn OFF the car.....It's just something you forget about when you put it in park and try to get out....more annoying than anything.
i'll check the manual about the locke disengaging when I put it in park.I see a post with a reference....I'll check it out.The seat belt buzzer just doesn't stop...from the minute you push the button to release it, it buzzes. Both for passenger and myself. If I'm dropping someone off and the car is in park, we both have to remain buckled in just to sit and talk for a bit.It is annoying.....shouldn't buzz in park.....in drive I could understand.
thats weird, of course the 05 have new features the other 03-04s do not. I know when I drive an 05 on the lot at work to park it or what ever, I don't have my seatbelt on and that buzzer is VERY annoying.

On manual transmission vehicles that have automatic locks, they use input from the speed sensor... After the vehicle reaches a certain speed for the first time after starting up, it will lock the doors. I think 8 MPH is the magic number for a lot of GM stuff...I've seen a few automatic vehicles do this as well - IIRC, Dad's Silverado does this.

On a manual trans, the auto locks should be tied into the speed of the vehicle. I have a friend with an '03 Saturn L200, 5-spd. When she gets to 8-10 mph, the doors lock. When she shuts it off, the doors unlock. I want that feature. Yea it's annoying to remember to unlock the doors to drop someone off, but what I really want is auto locks. Just my thoughts....

the 05 matrix just got this, and we have to make sure its programed correct. try, sitting in the car, close doors, but make sure the dimmer switch is turned on, then turn car to the on position, and then push/hold the lock button down, the dome lights will flash, if you want the doors to lock/unlock with the shifter it should flash 3 times,if not keep doing it till the dome light flashes.

I tried this on my 2005, and it disabled the passenger seat belt alarm in my car, but not the driver's. You must do this when there is no weight on the passenger seat.1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt. Good luck!
