anybody out there know how to program or what needed to program the pass mirror to tilt when put into reverse?i'm tired of my wife hitting the curbe. lol defenately don't want her hitting the new rims.
Phew... that's a rough one. In theory, I don't think it's that hard to make... it would be a timed relay that would fire the right mirror "down" signal for X seconds when the reverse switch was activated. Then fire the "up" signal for X seconds when reverse was deactivated.I'm not too keen on the specs, however. Someone may want to chime in with more details.I rode in a Audi All-Road with that feature... I thought, damn you must really suck at backing up if you need that feature.

Theoretically, however, if you shift from P straight to D, it still shoots over R, so wouldn't it basically ALWAYS move the mirror, even if you're not planning to go in R? Unless you could somehow time it so it has to be in R for a second or more to move the mirror...and how would you possibly design it to stop going back up at the right time? meaning, it won't obviously return to the set position without some fancy electronics, and if you or someone else adjusts the mirror, again, it wouldn't return to that position, it would always return to some standard position. you'd have to readjust the mirror every time you drive, wouldn't you?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Otherwise it will move when shifting out of park and move when shifting back into it. Not good.Quote »and how would you possibly design it to stop going back up at the right time? meaning, it won't obviously return to the set position without some fancy electronics, and if you or someone else adjusts the mirror, again, it wouldn't return to that position, it would always return to some standard position. you'd have to readjust the mirror every time you drive, wouldn't you? Man, throwing a wrench into the works. It would be easy enough to rig up a timer to run the mirror motor for x seconds, but there are too many variables to really do this accurately. The mirror could be higher or lower than designed, the motor may be going slower or faster than designed, etc... The motor could end up running until it gets to its limit and continue to run, or it wouldn't go back to the position it originally came from. The mirror could get further and further out of whack each time it is moved. You would have to design something fairly complex for this - you'll need switches to sense where the mirror glass is, and plenty of logic... It needs to store the position it came from and recall that later.

maybe i can steal the system out of a nother car.ahh another reason to go the junk jard.i can see that this mod would be a BIG project. even further due to my car being a 5 speed. i think i might just go with the convex mirror.
We could build you a prototype, but it will probably cost you a grand, so instead, take a grand, tack it to the bedroom wall, and tell your wife if she can go a year without messing up the tires and rims, then she can spend the money on jewelry.
