Fuse Box #$%!?@#$

Post by Toolman »

Anyone else think that the fuse box is in the worst possible location? I just got done with installing bluetooth and popped a fuse, thought I would never get it. If my wife pops a fuse I am going to be getting a phone call, no way she could get to them

Oh, it's in the perfect location until you need to gain access to the stupid thing. I too despise its location. It's hard to get to, and you end up with bodily injury after the fact.GM sure did kick Toyota's (removed) on fuse block accessibility from what I've experienced with the two cars before this... Just open the door, pop the cover off the side of the dash and there they are. No need to be a contortionist. Even the other older GM stuff I had before they started putting the fuse blocks on the side of the dash still were not such a chore.

i poped open that fuse box and i spent over half an hour lookinf or the cover. there's no way you can place both hands in there. the cover had found it's way behind some panels until i finally found it.i kept asking myself. "where the hell did it go??"

Grab yourself an automotive fuse puller, and toss it in the glovebox.Yeah, when I was new to modding, I thought I'd be cheap and just use a needlenose pliers to pull fuses - until I shorted a terminal with them, and blew the main fusable link. Cost me $45...Ounce of prevention, pounde of cure.

Yikes! So, that's why fuse pullers are plastic? I'm covered, I have the one that came in the Vibe that stores in the underhood fuse block, plus another that looks just like what you posted which came with a pack of fuses. There's definitely not much of a way to pull out those tiny little fuses with just your hand...

I guess I should get one, I used my Leatherman to pull the fuses. Thanks for the info, Binary.

Don't waste money on the store-bought fuse pullers. I've tried dozens, none of them seem to be able to get the fuses out of the Vibe's fuse blocks...the fuses are surrounded by a plastic barrier that makes getting anything other then the OEM puller on them near imposssible. But yeah, that block was a mother. In the G6, both fuse blocks are VERY accessible. One in the trunk side, and the other is on the lower right side of the console.
