I'm just south of you, near Tomball. There's a few of us in the NW Houston - Conroe-Bryan area; maybe we'll all have a mini-meet here soon.In regards to the vibration, that doesn't sound right at all. I've got 24K miles on my base '04 and vibration is very minimal in gear w/brakes. I'd definitely take it to a reputable mechanic and have it looked at right away. It could be anything from a bad engine mount to a faulty spark plug or coil.
In the summer the car is OK when the A/C is on (the idle is higher), now, with the A/C off, idle dropped to 750 rpm, the vibration is very clear and annoying, it feels like it gonna to shatter the window into pieces and the steer wheel just feels like a massager. The engine mount should be Ok for a car only some 2 year old, and I will check the spark plug (now I hate the plastic engine cover)
sounds like either bad motor mounts or maybe ES motor mount inserts. check your mounts and see if they are cracked worn or ripped on the rubber. If they have red inserts that is the ES motor mount inserts. just a thought. But from my mechanical experience it sounds as though you may have bad mounts.
