Saw this AWD auto tranny for a 2003 Vibe, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVWQuote »You are bidding on one Automatic Transmission from a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. It is in excellent condition. This Transmission comes from a vehicle with only 5 miles of use (YES, 5 actual miles). Year: 2003Make: PontiacModel: Vibegine Size: 1.8L 4 cylMileage: 5 milesTransmission Type: AutomaticI'm not interested in buyinig the tranny, but I'd really like to know the story behind why , in late 2005, a 2003 Vibe tranny is becoming available that only has FIVE miles on it. Even if it was a 2005 tranny, I'd like to know the story of how one with only five miles on it ended up in a junkyard.
Could have "fallen of the back of a truck" although kind of hard to do for a tranny

OK, off the wall theory. Experienced tranny gnomes. Joat has had the inexperienced gnomes, they break it while trying to remove it. The experienced ones can pull that thing out without any damage. They are related to the underwear and sock gnomes.

I know about the fell off the back of a truck theory. One of the '06 Vibes that was going to be directed my way fell off a truck and was damaged. The dealer called to see if I still wanted it, it was in the body shop being repaired. I thought about it for a second, OK more like a nanosecond and said "NO"
Another theory could be it was donated to a school. When I took an auto class back in 1984 Gm use to donate cars to the school for use to take apart and re-assy.The cars had to be given away as scrap when we were done. The school would keep the cars for 2 or 3 years which were not allowed to be driven off school property.
i wonder whats happening to all the southern states car lot cars that went through the hurricane................... hopefully the car just leff off the truck or was hit by another car on the lot.
