It's been a while, but I remember drilling holes in the rear (so to speak!), but not in the front. BTW, I'm talking about my car, not my sexual preference !
Welcome.I don't remember drilling holes for the stock bolt/screw locations front flaps (I'll check later) but I did add two stainless steel screws on each flap. Others on the board have found the stock screws and bolts insufficient, especially with snow and ice. But this may not be a problem in Texas I used screws from Wal-Mart for you licence plate Cheap , but efficientCheers and welcome abord
Thanks, we don't get much snow in Houston, I guess I'll need to take to dealer to put on.... I don't have the equipment to take off tires and drill the holes........
It would of been nice if they had said I need to drill before selling them to me. I will just have to take to the dealer to have my rear drilled . Thanks
This is a very easy operation. and you are only drilling through plastic, The only warning you need to worry about is not to drill too deep on the rear flap holes. if you do you will drill right through the lower ground effects.
Thanks for the info, I just don't have the stands to take the tire off as the instructions say to. There seems to be a plug at the bottom of the back rim that would fitt the hole for the flap, can I just pull that out and use the threaded nut and screw for that?
that bottom threaded nut will hold the bottom of the flap in place, but you still need to fasten the top portion.i installed mine without removing a wheel. I did, however, use my dremel with the flexible shaft attachment and was able to install all 4 no problems!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
Thanks, for the input, I wish I had a flexable shaft on a dremel ( o.k. I don't know what that is, just sounded good.)I would guess it's a drill of sorts.. Thank you for your info.
I bought the front and rear mud flaps a month ago and they're still sitting in a box. If I take it to the dealer, can they install it for me for free or should I go elsewhere?I don't own a drill and am not planning on buying one just so I can attach my mudflaps!

has anyone drove in the winter with them on? i mean pretty deep snow, as MN has semi deep snow, just wanna know if they make driving worse as they might build up more snow and ice on them.
i had them on last winter and there's no problems. in fact, snow/ice breaks off easier as they have a bit of flex. this causes the build up to break off sooner....not to mention it keeps the side/back of your vibe cleaner when that horrible salt spray starts up again...

Sure. Will they? Not likely. If nothing else, you'd likely pay for labor. Some dealers are sneaky and charge a few bucks for "shop supplies" such as WD-40, nuts, bolts, etc. Wherever you go, you're going to pay. My advice is to just find a neighbor or friend with power tools (trust me, SOMEONE you know has a freakin drill ) and do it yourself. You probably could use a battery drill, it doesn't have to be plug-in. I'm assuming, anyway, since they said you're only drilling through plastic. Never done it myself. Do it yourself. It's self-gratifying AND cheaper.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

i would recommend a chargable drill...got one 2 years ago and the plug in drill is practically NEVER used anymore....i also recommend a "dremel with flexible shaft"!

Well, everybody, just wanted to thank ya'll for the help, I enstalled the mud flaps today ,on my own, so dumb blonds can do something on their own... Did not have a dermel, but bought a craftman flex drill and had them puppies drilled and hooked up in about an hour.. What I don't understand is ,the front wheel well had screws already, why could they not have done the same for the back wheel well?.. Must have been a man that designed the car... my next project is changing out the lights, and then putting a LOUDER horn on. This tiny toot just doesn't get it for me I want it To blow long and Hard...... love ya'll, Judie :
Congrats on the install. The horn should be a nice mod. One or two horns? What do you plan to do with the lights. I got my Vibe in August and have already done many mods to it. It's hard not to.
Thanks, I am putting in Halogen Artic white in the front and fog and xtreme white on the reverse, I am also putting a VIBE decal on the third brake light , I had one on my 02 Escape and it looked great. I also changed out the antenna to a 3 3/4 inch black crome antennastill gives great reception ( you can see them on e-bay) I hated that long black thing they called an antenna. I have been checking the forums for what type of horn to put in , most people have put in a double and that sounds great to me , The bigger the blast the better for me when I run into those idiots on the road that don't know how to drive..If anyone has suggestions on types of horns and hookup I am open for your knowledge
hey! alright! glad to hear you went out and bought a drill (flex drill too! probably for the better, it'll probably come in handy a lot more than the dremel) and did it all yourself too! :Di agree with the horn issue...i've been thinking of replacing mine aswell....
