Hello. I just bought myself an 05 Vibe. Did a search for Vibe forums, and came up with you guys. I've already looked over a lot of the site, and thought i'd join and introduce myself. I used to own a cavalier, and have been part of JBO for years. And to me, the Vibe seems to be a more solid vehicle, and definately a step up. I've had the Vibe for 2 days now, and am extremely happy. I just have one question. Why does the auto tranny shift at about 4k? Tach shows to around 8k but it shifts at 4k no matter what. Currently i'm trying to figure out how to get my system in the Vibe, i've got CDT 6.5 components, kicker rmb8's, and a brahma 15. I wanna still be able to get to the spare tire tho, just incase. If anyone has any ideas, i'd love to hear em.
Welcome to GenVibe! I came from an '88 Cavalier via a 2000 GMC Jimmy. Had my Cavalier for 12 years, it was good to me. The Jimmy sucked! The Vibe is by far the best car I have owned. It should be able to shift at a higher rpm than that. It does it even when you floor it? When the engine is cold it will only rev to 500 before shifing but when the engine is warm it should be able to go up to 6200-6400 max on a base model.Again, welcome and enjoy the Vibe and this site!
My Fleet:

'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Thanks.Yeah, even when floored it shifts at around 4k to 4500. It's used and has a couple little dings the dealership said they'd take care of. So i'll mention that too.I agree, the forums are one of the best parts, just like JBO forums. I had an 04 cav before, planned on a turbo for it, but never saved enough lol. Even if i'd never do what i wanna with my vehicle, it's fun to hope and wish.
First of all, Welcome to GenVibe! I think you'll find the answers to about any question you'll have right here.I've got a base '04 and it will definitely shift above 4K if you throttle just right. HOWEVER, since you're still in the break in period (i.e., under 1000 miles), I'd take it easy on the tranny before you cut loose.I can't help you with the audio stuff, but there's more than a few here who can. You might consider a separate post in the Audio, Electronics, Electrical forum.
I've been checking out the other sections. Trying to come up with ideas myself first, then ask what others would do to better my ideas. As far as the 4k rpm thing. It's already got 24k miles on it. But today with the first drive i've had in it that was longer than a couple miles. The engine had to warm up first. While it's cold it shifts at 4k, when it warms up, it goes higher.
