I switched to Vonage about 4 months agoPlusses Phone bill dropped from $63 to $27 for unlimited service Web based account management including voicemail and the ability to lock out international calls. Automatic bill to credit card. Not having to give money to those *******s at SBC - PricelessMinuses 911 issues not fully resolved Occasional choppyness, probably road runner fault latency issues, a voip issue where packet delays result in an echo Need internet and power to have phone service.I feel I am a pioneer willing to accept a few compromises for the savings.
I use Lingo, it's a little cheaper than Vonage, I went with it about 9 months ago when I moved into the new house. Yes, the previously mentioned issues occur with Lingo as well. It's 22.09 per month (after taxes and such)But it is well worth it (I think)

myfamily uses optimun voice. it's a VOIP serv. they pay i think 29$.the clarity is inmense, even the volume of voice is much greater to any land line or cell line i've ever heard.all VOIP srv have the issue with 911 calling. that's the only draw back if you ask me.plus if you have a home security serv, your security monitoring is not garrantied, and unreliable. most will ask you keep a basic land line.
I've been using the service from Primus.ca for the last year and a half. I do admit it was pretty bumpy in the beginning, but they were the first to hit the market at the time. For me, I couldn't wait to get out of the corporate monopoly Telus has here, so first opportunity I had I jumped ship.
