October Jersey Mini (and I mean MINI) Meet

Post by ragingfish »

Would like to get SOMETHING going in October...a mini meet for all the local yokels. Looking for feedback on possible locations, and dates. All are welcome, but this will likely be small. Thinking cars, talk, and lunch. Maybe some hiking or biking? Should be the perfect time of year...Two locations I scoped out:Turkey Swamp Park, Freehold, NJAllaire State Park, Farmingdale, NJ

Turkey Swamp Park is closer to me than Allaire State Park. Oct 22-23 is the only date that does not look good for me right now.

Hey Mike,Not to hijack your thread but why don't you organize a caravan and join us in Montreal like on the first week of October? We can have a mega meet instead of a mini meet? Just a suggestion bro

Well, maybe, but unfortunately, my new job is sapping my funds big time. I'm staying in a hotel for the third time this week because the drive is too exhausting and I have to work late tonight and be back at 5:30 am tonight. Not out of the question, but we'll have to see...Also depends on the car situation...may not wanna put that much mileage on a new car...Psssh..ok, the second is a joke. I'll be excited to show off the new wheels (whenever I get 'em). But the first reason is realistic...money may be a factor...

Since no one else wants to chime in, I'll do the decision making. Meet is THIS SUNDAY, 10/9 at Allaire State Park in Farmingdale, NJ.I went with this park because it looks a bit nicer then TS. If you guys wanna bring bikes, go for it. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to get mine tuned up, it hasn't been used in about 7 years, and I wouldn't dare try to ride it with all the rust on it. Sadly, I'll have to stay behind if you guys hit the trails. We'll meet at the main parking area, near the picnic area, as seen on this map:Time: 11 AM.Directions: From the Garden State Parkway: Exit 98 off the Garden State Parkway to 195 West. Exit 31B off 195.Click here to mapquest it.I'm bringing any crap I have left I'm trying to sell, so bring cash or checkbooks if you think you might be interested. Lunch: On you. I suggest grabbing yourself a sub or something that requires no prep as availability of BBQ grills is unknown. Observe all posted park regulations. No SPEEDING. No LOUD MUSIC. No ALCOHOL. Is everyone still on board?

Tentative start time of noon...Biking is optional, but I'm not bringing a bike and I believe BOZAK isn't either. Hiking is a possibility. But it might just end up being photo taking and chatting. Depending on whether or not the car is ready Friday or not, I may have to run to Red Bank early in the AM on Saturday...consequently, I might be late. I'll post up on Friday night to let y'all know if we need to shift the start time or not.Anyone up for dinner afterwards? There's bound to be lots around there...By the way guys...I have 4 Toyota oil filters for the 1ZZ engine I obviously don't need anymore...asking $5 per filter...I'll bring them to the meet...Toyota PN: 90915-YZZA2.

Well, I just checked in with the dealer, they won't have the car on site until this afternoon, and won't be able to turn it over to me until Saturday morning @ 11 AM In addition to typical PDI stuff, I asked them to scotch guard the interior (learned to do that one after my oil slick incident in the vibe ) which requires a 24 hour drying period. SOOOO...If the meet still happens, I won't be there until likely 1 or 2 PM. Just giving you folks a head's up...
