a carls jr over on the east cost is a "hardee's"i've always thought how it's funny that they think a restaurant needs different names depending on where they are.

Hardees was a southern and eastern fast-food restaurant chain.(Going WAY back, Burger Chef was an Indiana-based chain of fast-food restaurants.Hardees bought the Burger Chef chain in the late 1970's, and eventually renamed all the locations 'Hardees.')Carl's Jr was primarily a western US fast-food restaurant chain. Carl's Jr. management bought out Hardees management several years ago. They kept the Hardees name that people in the south and east would recognize, but added the Carl's Jr. 'Star' icon to Hardees advertising, rather than put totally new Carl's Jr. signage at existing Hardees locations. Since the buy-out, they've introduced many of the same sandwiches at both "identities".
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
The Hardee's arm of the business has also lost some customers due to the Carl's Jr marketing campaigns that ended up coming over to Hardee's. I'm not sure about elsewhere, but I know in the south the primary customers of Hardee's are retirees who eat breakfast there every morning. When I would stay with my grandfather during the day in the summer while my parents were at work, we would go to Hardee's every morning for biscuits and gravy. That restaurant never has, and still continues to not, make most of its money from anything other than breakfast in the south. But as soon as they were bought out, there was suddenly a change in the speed of service (i.e. no longer fast food, but instead take a number and they bring it to your table) and the types of food offered, not to mention the marketing campaign with the "star with an attitude" turned off a lot of the Hardee's customer base. And ads like the Paris Hilton one continue to do that now even. It seems like their customer bases are too different for them to be using the same marketing campaigns, but they are anyway. They consider their target market for both restaurants to be young adult males, but their true target market with Hardee's should be in a completely different age bracket.IMHO, this merger was a strange one and they would have been better off completely maintaining separate entities. I know in East TN, they kind of screwed themselves when they changed their service back when they were first bought out by Carl's Jr, and some of that customer base they never gained back.Anyway, to get that back on topic...the Hardee's in Colonial Heights actually has a PT Cruiser-tisement and has for several years.
Carl's Jr is based out of San Francisco. so what do you expect? lol.and yes, their advertisements are quite different from the Hardee's commercials I remembered in Jr. High. some of them are quite funny IMO, but most seem to be geared toward the single male, or well.... males in general.
well, good to know. i like hardee's. like someone else said. for the breakfast. good food.cal's jr on the other hand. why would i want to eat a burger paris hilton just ended screwing??? lolp.s. i love "del taco"!!!! i wish i lived out west just for them.
i like carl's jr. they have good burgers. plus, they've been a client of mine since 03, so i like to give them my business. plus, they are allowing me to come in, do a demo for work, and hopefully give me some sales from it. they don't have to do this, but the owners and managers like me so they are willing to be my guinea pigs. plus, they give me free food....

We had a Burger Chef in my town... and I was telling my wife what used to be in the Hardee's building before it... for the life of me I couldn't remember the name! You've saved my sanity. When I was just a wee shiner I would get the kids meal and it came with a kiddy burger, fries, drink - and a giant thermoformed plastic car tray to hold it in - with *gasp* stickers to put on it.Ahh... good times. See, I started moding cars when I was REALLY young.
