Son is looking for new car. Vibe would be ideal blend of economy and versatility. Located a Vibe with AT and Pfd Package. MSRP $18,690; inovice $17,418 plus adv fees etc; probably $17,675.Disc. hopefully $1,000, net of $17,675. Rebate $500. Sales Tax and doc fee $1,300. Total net of $18,475. IMO that's a lot of $$ for this car.

When I bought mine a little while back GM was offering $1k on '05's plus an additional $1K for the "Conquest" incentive (trading in a non-Pontiac vehicle).
I posted the question of "Now that the 2006 Vibe is out with a $500.00 rebate already in place, and the 2005's have NO rebates or incentives, is there a Mfg.to Dealer hidden incentive?". Answer was that GM is givinga "MFG. to Dealer" $1500.00 "hidden" incentive to get rid of the 2005's.(which of course is not posted on their regional website! That means that if you could purchase a 2005 for "Invoice" and then get the $1500.00 off of invoce, that sounds like it would be a very good deal. BUT...when you factor in that it is now a one year old (market wise) vehicle and if you could (and I state "could") get a 2006 at invoice besides the $500.00 rebate....then we are talking of "Only" saving $1000.00 as compared to the 2005. So it is up for grabs. If you intend to keep the Vibe for many years, then the 2005 is probably a better deal; however, I really believe in the next couple of months, the 2006 will have a better rebate or incentive! I checked the whole state of Florida for the 2005's at the GM site and there is a good supply left...but...mostly Black or Frosty white with options that seem to me not as good sellers. There are also 5 peeds available. I only searched for the base, auto, monotone and power pack, but mostly all of the available base models came up. I just emailed a dealer in Miami that has a base, auto, monotone and power pack in Silver with leather, (the only one I could find in that color and equipped the way I want it) to see what price they will offer me as I have a GMID certificate which is good until December 29th. I gave him all the facts and asked him to factor in first, the GMID price and then to take the "Hidden" $1500.00 "OFF" of that price. I also ask him if ther were any "HIDDEN" fees other than the 6% Fla. sales tax, tag fee and title fee. I will report back once I get the internet mgr.s price.
Thanks CougarVibe, i forgot about the 1000.00 Conquest incentive for the 2005's. I qualify for that, also, (besides the $1500.00 in hidden monies. See my previous post about that one.

Wow, another follow-up to my follow-up. I just received word from CarMan at the Edmunds forum thet GM has "REDUCED the $1000.00 Conquest incentive to $500.00. Evidently due to the fact of the demand for smaller, good gas mileage Vibes. What a bummer.
