Good-bye employee pricing; Hello even better pricing?

Now that the employee pricing is ending, will the $2,000 rebates on the 2005 Vibe's return or have they all been sold? Wonder what is going on for the 2006's which seem to have a roll back to almost 2003 pricing.

The whole GM lineup is supposed to be getting more "competitive" pricing. It is about time, GM has had way too high prices in the last few years in my opinion.

Pricing should be better for employees! Prior to employee pricing to all, I could buy most vehicles cheaper then I could during that time. That is the most compelling reason I have not bought a new vehicle. I was hoping for a full-size pickup rebate of 7k like last year, and I would have had a diesel crew-cab for 27k.

We bought our '05 last April prior to Employee Pricing; the dealer had an identical one on the lot in July and the "Employee Price" they had on it was a few hundred dollars MORE than we had paid for ours in April.

That's what I was talking about - the right hand giveth and the left hand taketh away. Might not have been true with some of the slower selling models, but on the Vibe it seems they cut the rebate when they instituted employee pricing. My son bought a Saturn Vue right before the employee pricing deal - he was bummed until he saw that he got a better deal than the new employee pricing. He paid about $2,500 to trade in his two yaer old Vue for a new one. I told him any time you can drive a decent NEW car for about $200 a month in the first 2-3 years you are getting a good deal. FYI - on the Vue he bought two years ago, he had some transmission problems right off the bat. He exercised his "right" to give them back that car and get a different one. The Saturn 30 day return guarantee.

I paid $11,950 for my 4 cyl Vue with a "sports plus" package that has pwr windows, locks, cruise, alum. wheels, etc. when they had rebates and actual discounts for the employees a year ago April. Now, the same Vue would be close to $16,000 employee pricing (no rebates). I'm not saying they changed the "employee price", but the cost has gone up for employees because there are no rebates.

I think many employees did not buy because of the lack of discounts. Like you, I could justify paying the price you did to buy a new car. However, without deals like that, I will continue to keep my old cars. My fleet of 3 is now a combined 14 years old, and I never keep my cars more than 2 years.

When I bought my Vibe last April (04), I paid less than the employee price that was shown to me. This was BEFORE the big GM Employee Pricing program started.Don't you worry; good rebates will still be had...

I suspect that there is copious dealer incentive money on any remaining 2005's that the dealers can use to line their pockets or use to move the metal asap. Little ol' ladies and other naive buyers beware.

I don't know about 2003 pricing. All I know is we were too late in getting a 2005 Vibe to take advantage of the employee savings plan. We picked up our 2006 Vibe (base/power/auto) for $23750 (Canadian dollars).
