clutch replacement tech help.

Post by 03VibeGT6Spd »

I have decided to help a friend, replace her clutch in her GT.I have a question, do the bolts for the flywheel and presure plate need to be replaced?

It depends on who you ask. Some people say yes, especially since it's such a pain to get to them, it is a small cost compared to having to go back in to replace one. Other people feel they don't go bad so no need. Supposedly some clutch kits come with replacement bolts, mine didn't, and I didn't replace them, but I have a base, not the higher powered GT, so hopefully I am at less risk. Definitely at least use loctite on them when you put them back in, new or re-used.

She bought a cheap one off ebay, Exedy #TYC613 organic but it's made in japan. So maybe it might hold up.I tried to talk her into an ACT like mine, but she can't afford it.Loctite I would guess is a must either way.

I really like it, but it is real grabby.Monkey wrench recommended RPS which was like $20 cheaper and it didn't come with a throw bearing. It was like 850 with tax installed. The Base and the GT have different kit numbers. On the plus side of Exedy, ACT use's there Disk.I think Exedys number for the base TYK1500, But don't quote me on it ask them to be sure.
