I have had my 3 month old '05 in 2 times for a roof leak in heavy rain. The water comes out between headliner and A pillar trim on drivers side. They have dropped headliner 2 times and both times said it is from the roof rack? Anyone else out there with similar problem???? Otherwise most fun car I've had that is not meant for off road...
I hope they did something to try to fix it both times. Is it still leaking? i don't remember anyone else with a roofrack caused leak.welcome to genvibe
Welcome aboard, by the way. Check this link, perhaps that will help. Do you have a moonroof? It looks like the dealer may be shooting straight for the roof seam (something similar to what is in the GM Tech Link article.) However, and unfortunately, these cars have two main possibilities for water leaks up in the area you're seeing water - the roof seam could be to blame, but also the moonroof... If you have one and they haven't looked at the drains on it yet, then I would see if they can check that out. Otherwise, it sounds like they really need to remove the roof rack and gutter molding and seal up the roof seam.Let's hope they can get you fixed up... I feel for ya, these water leaks are very difficult to diagnose, even worse to cure. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the fast response!!! I do not have a moonroof and they have tried to fix it. It only happens when it rains and it has only rained a couple of times all summer in Chicago, it does not happen when it gets washed, or maybe there is not enough water to cause it.That link looks like it may be the answer, if it happens again I'll print it and show the service guy how to fix it!!!Thanks again joatmon & ColonelPanic!!!!
It happened again this week, not much rain here in Chicago... We had a bad storm on Monday and it was wet in the same spot. This time I printed out the GM service bulletin and took it in with me. The service consutant was surprised I had it and checked with the tech that said he already did that fix. He did ask where I got it and I told him genvibe!!! Anyway they had my car all day yesterday and found 'pin leaks' in a different area. If it happens again I may try lemon law (not sure if applicable) but I think the roof is a pretty major component of the car. At least it is supposed to rain tomorrow so I can tell a little sooner if it will happen again.
Doesn't the warranty work require the customer to get a copy of the repair work that was done?? If so, you can bet if you didn't get a copy, that the TSB work was NOT done as stated by the tech!!!
I was pretty much kidding about the lemon law...I did not read the 2nd invoice from the dealer that closely figuring they knew what they were doing. I'll dig out the paperwork when I get home to make sure they are telling the truth. All I know is they better hope it stays dry tomorrow or the owner and I will be speaking...
Hey gang... my first post, though I've been lurking since I got my Vibe 2 months ago.Anyways, pretty heavy rain up here in Toronto this morning, and I noticed dripping coming from the passenger-side A-pillar. The headliner just above seems pretty heavy with water as well.I'm taking it in tomorrow morning, and I'm taking a printout of the TechLink. I'm hoping it gets fixed right the first time and I don't have to deal with this everytime it rains!Otherwise, I love my Vibe!
Each time mine was in I dropped it off in the afternoon (to be able to get my loaner car) and they'd have it until the next evening, calling right before the service department closed. They would tell me that they needed to fix it and then test, dry, test, dry, test and so on until there were no leaks. Hopefully for you that means they are finding it and making sure it is fixed right... good luck!!
Keep all your paperwork. Follow your owners manual if your vehicle is not repaired. Talk with the manager and if your still not repaired call the GM toll free number in your owners manual. GM bought my 2003 vibe back July 2005 27,000 miles later after 7 attempts to repair the radio light. I now have a 2005 vibe. Only thing I paid for was the extras like moon and tunes and Leather. Just my 2 cents.
Just heard from the dealership... apparently, someone had been into the roof to try and fix this (someone at the factory?). They just stuck in a glob of silicon. Pretty shoddy job.Anyways, the whole windshield needs to be removed and replaced. I'm not going to see my car back until tomorrow. Here's hoping they fix the damn thing.
They replaced the car. The way it works is they give me Sticker price credit what my car was and I pay the difference of Whatever car I choose sticker price. Since I chose another vibe I only had to pay for the upgraded Leather and moon and tunes. My 2003 vibe went to auction all for a NON flashing red light on my disk radio.

Um, so let me see if I have this correct... Your car was purchased back because the blinking LED on the radio that is nothing other than a pseudo theft deterrent wasn't working? They didn't try to replace the radio first? I should have pursued the lemon law route when I was having radio problems, (I went through two in less than a month) if I would have known it was that easy. I had a Malibu before this and tried to get GM to buy it back because water poured out from under the dash any time you used the A/C, and lost on that one bigtime. It wasn't pleasant. Here I am now, engine knocking horribly like it's going to destroy itself when cold, losing coolant unexplicably, it needs its 4th A/C compressor, and I can't do anything about it since the time to file a lemon law claim was gone a very long time ago. Lucky you, you got a new car over a 10 cent LED. Wow. Good deal for you.

NO your not correct. They purchased my car back because a function of my car was attempted to be repaired 7 times over a 2 year period. It started with the blinking red light. Each radio they put in had it's own set of problems from non working cd player to the entire radio not lighting up at night. Same problem was not able to be repaired by radio replacements or entire vehicle wire harness replacement. They no longer made that radio for my vehicle and only had rebuild avaible. I personally asked if they cant fix it to upgrade to the next radio. They chose to gave me sticker price credit towards a new vehicle of my choice. Your owners manual describes the process. Be prepared the paperwork process took me 8 months for GM to complete.
Well, now apparently there's some kind of crack in the windshield and the whole thing needs to be replaced. It'll be until Monday at the earliest. 1 full week to replace a leak that shouldn't have been there in the first place. /me isn't happy.
Gotcha... Sounds like you had a rough time there with the stereo. Far, far, far too late for me to consider the lemon law stuff, but yes, like I said I have been there before, and yes - lots of paperwork. My Vibe decided to fall apart after the time frame and mileage that a lemon law claim is allowed in Indiana so that's an option I've never really had. So I'm stuck.
