Nitto Neo Gen?

Post by Emerica13 »

Well, its that time again, new tires! I'm wondering if any of you have opinions on the Neo Gen, i think it looks sweet but obviously looks arent everything, and im kinda new to the whole tire shopping thing. Also, any other recommendations are welcome, im riding on the stock 17" wheels, and im wondering, do i have to stick with the 215/45 that came on them or can i go to a 225/45? Thanks!

There is no problem running 225s. The Neo Gen has the same treadwear rating as a Falken FK451 and they are both Z rated. I can vouch for the handling and stickiness of the Falkens. I got 30,000 miles of hard driving out of them also. I have also been looking at the Neo Gens for next summers rubber but I haven't read much about them yet.

my summer set of tires is 225/45. you will have better handling, but you will do a little bit more of aquaplanning under rain cause your tires are wider...

Awesome, thanks a lot guys! I think I'll go with the Neo Gens after my kumhos die, unless anyone has any other suggestions.

I had a set of 225/45/17 Neo Gen's installed yesterday. $101.00 each from Discount Tire Direct. Too soon to say how well they handle but they look wicked.

I like the Kumho SPT much better, but they should be on the same level... I've owned both Nitto and Kumho... Neither the Neo or the SPT though, buth have done me very well..

Well the Neo Gen is a beautiful tire. As good or better than the Falken FK451s I used to have. They're smooth, quiet and fabulous grip, wet and dry. They corner like you're on rails.

i dont think you'd hydroplane with wider tires..specially since they're designed to push the water away from the center of the tire

If i were you, and i know i'm not, but, i would go for the Kumho SPT... That will be the next tire i buy....Falken 451 is crap, I would recomend them to anyone, i'm running them now, never again...
