Arrow-shaped mirror-mounted LED turn signals

Post by mauthner »

Has anyone installed those arrow-shaped LED turn signals that go on your side mirrors? My wife likes the look of them, and I must admit, I think they are kind of neat too. If anyone has installed them, can you tell me if they are easy to install and do they hold up in the weather?

Those look slick Ragingfish. I think I am going to give it a shot. I got a brand new Lava vibe that I am going to deck out with red-themed light effects. Here is my to-do list of light effects mods:First: these red flashing arrows on the mirrors2nd: red underbody neons 3rd: red neons to light the interior floor (wired to the dome light)4th: red backlight for the CD slit.By the way 'Fish, thank you so much for all you do for these forums. This is a fantastic resource and community you have created for Vibe owners and enthusiasts.

Hey ragingfish, those look nice!they are very easy to put on you just have to be patient. like the above poster said you have to thread wires through tiny places and across the dash and behind the kick pads.

I would like to see a closeup shot of them preferably before installation.I am wondering about the possibility of mounting them behind the mirror glass so the light shines through and they remain hidden until in use. That would of course mean either sandwiching them between the mirror and backing plate (probalby not a good idea as it would push the mirror glass way out) or drilling out holes in the backing plate to let the light shine through. If I were to do that then I would want to shave the transparent coating on the unit off so that the LED's could settle into the matching holes. If I could get a good clean up close photo I would have a better idea if this product could be used this way.Otherwise, it would just mean creating an array of LED's to use.Or better yet, one led with fiber optics.

when scherry2 helped me install them, we hit the turn signal feeders right at the relay, which is attached to the top of the under-dash fuse block. We had to break the mount for the relay to gain access though, so you MIGHT fare better tapping into the turn signal in the headlight rather then the relay. Just make sure if you use the headlight you tap into the signal relay wires and NOT the parking light wires, otherwise your arrows will glow full time.

That's what they did to mine on my S-10 with the mirrors I bought that had the amber turn leds on the outide of the mirror. Looked bad-@$$, but from what I heard it was illegal. Never got pulled over for it though, and since it was on the front side of the mirror it wasn't a distraction for me.

That's what I figured, but from what I heard for it to be on full time was illegal. If it just blinks when you are using your turn signal it is ok, but for it to be on full time wasn't. That's just what I heard. I thought it looked cool that way!

i am considering placing them on the door but directly under the mirror housing. Much like the Matrix has stock side indicators on the front fenders.
