Here's a link to a BMW mechanic who had a BMW 330 with no oil change for 50,000 miles. This reminds me when I used to work at a gas station near a retirement area. Every weekend the retirees would bring their cars in to get gas, chat, and get their oil checked and at least once a month the dip stick would snap off or be so covered with mud you could get a reading. Then I'd have to give them the bad news. The link may not be 56k friendly http://forum.e46fanatics.com/s...amage Here's one pic:
That's awesome.Maybe I am a bit "excessive" changing the oil ever 3-5k miles...But like they say...it's the most inexpensive and simplest form of preventative maintenance.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

(har har har)True that on the oil slick... that's just plain nasty, what horors that poor engine suffered through, oh the humanity.
Well I think a lot of people get miss lead (including sales people) when it comes to the BMW 50,000 mile maintainance free BMW models... It REALLY means FREE oil changes to 50,000 miles... but people think it means it does not require one till 50,000 miles. And as we can see... YIKES!!!
