Yet another CAI problem

OK this one is odd and I haven't read it on here yet. But a little while back I got a 2003 Injen CAI for my 2004 vibe GT. I was unaware of any changes between the years. Well a couple of things don't quite line up the way they need too. (mainly the dampining screw is off by a couple inches) But on to more important issues at hand. Now I clearly read the instructions (over and over to make sure) But one of the first steps it state to "Remove the pump and hoses behind the driver side headlamp) remove bumper blah blah blah... IT said remove. Not relocate. I went back and double checked everything it said. So I removed per instructed... Well Long story short it sounds like I have this huge (removed) vaccum leak. And I get a Service enginge soon light on. I took it up to Autozone to get the code checked. It said "Aux. Air pump switch set to off" No one knows what the hell that is supposed to mean. I have to guess it was the crap I removed from behind the headlight It had a few plugs connected to it. Worst of all I went from roughly 31 mpg to getting only 14mpg on a good tank. This is horrible. I kind of figured I'd loose a little MPG but this is idiotic.Can someone wiser than myself in these matters please guide me to some light on this?.....

when i had my cosmo cai installed in my 04 gt, they just relocated that dumb pump, its up by the fire wall now, and as far as the cel. I cannot ever get it to stay off. If I warm up the car, unplug the battery for a few min then restart the car it will stay off for 2 days, but after that it will come back on again. I like the cai so I just live with the cel being on. Some say that a unichip will solve the problem, but I will have to wait on that since we have been house shopping lately and sigh the seattle area just got voted the most over priced city in america . but anyway hope that helps a bit, gl p.s. btw my engine runs great, and on a recent trip to oregon I got 37mpg. You might want to put that pump back in asap

SO then is the cel light a common issue for CAI installs? I would think you could install a CAI without adverse effect like that...Especailly the INJENS. I mean they are a pretty high end company right? I can't imagine the cel light being status quo for everyone that has done the swap. I read the whole run at idel for 20 miuntes and make sure the sensor dosen'tr get the oil all over it from the Filter. (which BTW are not in any instructions I got at all but I did anyways per what I read on here) But I still got the dreaded cel coming on. I think my issue is that stupid pump it said to remove. I'll try sticking it back on somewhere and see if that helps at all.

I have a 2003 GT and installed my Injen CAI two years ago, never once have I had a CEL. I'm not sure about the 04s with that pump, but I hope you can get it fixed easily.

When I took my car into autozone and had them check the cel codes, it was a direct problem with the air pump and the cai not liking each other, the error code said something about a loose hose in the air pump. What it really means IMHO is that the engine is getting more air then the maf thinks it should. I really dont think there is a fix for it, unless as stated before you get a unichip. It seems to be when the car is cold and its really sucking alot of air while warming up, (it sounds like a huge shop vac) is what causes the cel to come on.If you reset the cel once the car is warm the cel will not come back on all day.I am no expert by any means and could be totally wrong, this is just my obervations since I put my CAI in about 4 months ago.gl and keep me informed so I can learn from you
