Hi I just bought a 03 vibe gt with 17k miles so the clutch should be good but I need to know what a slipping clutch feels like. If I'm on a little hill I will let out the clutch enough to drop the RPM a couple hundred then I will hit the gas and usually I will stall. This is my second standard vehicle so I am not a Noob driver. So if someone could tell me what a slipping clutch feels like I would really appreciate it. Also if people could tell me if they like the exedy clutch that is on ebay I would appreciate that also.AC
when you let the clutch out all the way (take your foot off the clutch pedal) the spring loaded pressure plate is supposed to clamp the clutch disc against the flywheel so firmly that it is a solid mechanical link between the engine and the transmission. A slipping clutch is like when you don't fully release the clutch pedal. There is some pressure on the disc against the flywheel, and some amount of power is transferred to the transmission, but the clutch is slipping against the flywheel and not all the power is transferred. Sometimes none of the power is transferred, depends on the amount of slip. Stalling the engine is probably a sign that the clutch is gripping ok. Signs of clutch slipping would be more like having the clutch let out all the way, stepping ont he gas, and having the RPMs increasee without a corresponding increase in speed. Not sure what other manual tranny car you've had, but the Vibe tends to have poor low end torque, which means that you may have to increase the RPMs more than you'd expect (or at least ove it more gas) as you let the clutch out to keep from stalling the thing. but not too much,
