They are now in show rooms, i just saw one while trying to get the south central meet toghter with Glenn.Much better than the the Aztek (sorry mom) even better than the TrailBlazer, Envoy, and others that use the same chassis.I mean just look at it. it looks like it'll eat you alive!!!
The Torrent is on the same platform as the Saturn Vue and Chevy Equinox, not the Trailblazer, Trailblazer EXT, Trailblazer SS, Envoy, Envoy XL, Envoy Denali, Envoy XL Denali, Envoy XUT (discontinued), Olds Bravada (discontinued, reborn as the Buick Ranier), Buick Ranier, Isuzu Ascender, Saab 9-7x.I believe that the Torrent looks nice, but it is too similar to the Chevy Equinox. On a related front, the concept Opel Antara just shown at the Frankfurt auto show will be the basis for the new Opel cross-over SUV, and Bob Lutz indicated that a virtually identical version will be the next Saturn Vue. http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-101487.html
mybad, but that is what i ment the eqinox, vue. not thinking when i posted it.FWD and AWD have a 3.4L 3400 V6 engine with 185 hp. (according to the web site.)
The Torrent isn't a bad looking vehicle...I'd consider one IF it had an available 5/6-speed manual and came in Fusion. With the auto trans, I wouldn't even consider it.

Yup, it shares the Theta platform from the Chevy Equinox and Saturn Vue. (the Equinox and Torrent have been stretched 8" over the Vue) Too bad the Equinox and Torrent don't share the 3.5L 250hp Honda V-6 motor that GM puts in the Vue. BUT....GM only mates the V-6 up with slushbox automatic trannies in all the vehicles mentioned. My Vue is a 2.2L Ecotec with a 5-speed manual which isn't as much fun as the 250hp V-6 would be, but it was cheaper and it's a stick. They have changed the styling on the 2006 Vue somewhat, (especially the front end) but it does come in Fusion Orange....
I think the Torrent looks much better than the Equinox. Something about that "smiling" front grill on the Equinox that just makes me laugh!

The chrome on the back hatch of the Equinox looks odd, IMO. The grille not so much so...the one on the Torrent reminds me too much of the Montana SV6 which looks to me like a truck's front end pasted onto the back end of a minivan. If they could put the Torrent's back hatch on an Equinox though, I'd probably look into it...LOL

YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

I stopped by another dealer today just in the hopes of finding a Solstice (needless to say, it wasn't there). Checked out a Torrent.Honestly, I really like it. I've only liked 2 SUV's in my life...the Rav4, which is liked, but never going to sit in my driveway given my distaste of toyota right now, and now the Torrent. If the fuel economy on it wasn't so crappy, it would be in serious consideration for the Vibe replacement.

Howdy CohoCarl! Are you a member of SaturnFans.com? That's where that pic came from. I went to my local Saturn retailer today and they had an orange one out front. There is a subtle difference in the oranges of the Vibe and the Vue, and honestly I like the Vibe Fusion better. However, because it was an automatic, it didn't pass my "Saturn/Vibe Test." Guess I'll have to keep looking.

Es purrrrty.Living in a GM town, I see my fair share of 'burbans, yukes, and blazers... but I've seen a lot of people swapping out their yachts for these sportier SUVs and cars like the Malibu Max and Vibes.I say it looks great - much better than the Equinox. And it has a pretty darn slick name to boot.

Because GM builds the engine in China and ships to the GM/Suzuki joint venture in Canada to build these duo's. Also, they are building more than 150k of these a year, and do not want to buy that many engines from Honda.
The Vue is built at Spring Hill, with the other plastic Saturns. (Verified). I do know more about the Torrent, as I spent 3 months last year at the plant (and did see the vehicle, and have lots of info, but could/can not share.)
Well, for those who did not watch tonight, Survivor is giving away four (4) unclaimed Pontiac Torrents. The contest ends Dec 12th. Apparently, you must go to a Pontiac dealer, pick up a scroll that has a code, go to http://www.pontiac.com/survivor and enter the code to see if you have won! It might be worth a try to win a free Torrent!!
