Allegedly some have had success, but I have yet to have it happen. None of the CD-RW discs I have tried have worked. I'm on my 4th factory stereo and haven't tested this one yet but I'd say it doesn't work either.I'm really hard on my CD's, so I just stick with CD-R's, save a couple bucks there. No sense in using a more expensive CD-RW if it's going to be trashed by the time it gets to the car, which often happens with my regular CD-R's. lol

Even the el cheapo CD-Rs work great, so if it was me I would just stick with those...I got a 50-pack for $6 at Circuit City a couple of months ago, and it will probably last me a year, but they're working great in the car.

Here's a couple year old post that I posted in on this topic. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7010 My old Memorex CDR-Ws work in my Vibe with the 6 disc in dash cd changer, but it looks like most CDR-Ws do not.

My memorex CDRs and CDR-Ws worked fine, but when I switched brands I couldn't get them to work on my 6 disc cd player. Different colors do make a difference. I only use black cds now because they tend to work best.

DANG IT i even tried a memorex rw cd, must be only the 6 disc changers that play them, as my friends cavy doesnt do rw either. is say ipod or cdr with cd holder cuz you'll need a lot of space to put all the cdr's once they start piling up

I'll second that about the black CD-R's. Especially if you're not the most gentle person on your CD's. I get very short life out of my non-black CD-R's, but somehow I do have some black CD-R's that I burned over a year ago that still function. Two of my stock stereos thus far eventually crapped out to the point where they wouldn't read ANY cd-r's EXCEPT the black ones. Any other color and they would skip horribly. The black CD-R's are more expensive but are worth it, IMHO.

just dont get some decent brand and your fine, memorex is cheap and for me they start flaking, yes the mercury ink stuff flakes in my vent visor. i usually use imation, sony or tdk for cdr's. color'ed ones are thicker and do seem to take scratches better.

Sometimes I've had better luck reducing the speed of the burn with my CD-RWs.I'll have to test mine. I know i had issues with my Ford unit in my '99 - when I downshifted the burn speed from 8x to 2x it would work with no issue - but it took 30 minutes to burn, ugh!

My '05 won't play some of the CDRs that I have burned.Mostly it's original music, and local punk band stuff, so none of it is available commercially. Is it something specific with my burner that I need to set, or is it something more evil and GM-related?

Try burning the disk at a slower speed than it's rated for.

i always burn at the slowest speed possible with everything, better quality and less skiping if any.

I know I've been ripping a lot of my favorite CDs in high bit rate MP3 - but I let iTunes downgrade them to 128k AAC when it dumps them to my shuffle. They seem to sound pretty good.
