An Introduction - Hanging around for awhile.

Post by T.A.Banks »

Ladies and Gentlemen, Hello. My name is Tim, and I am that lowest of Internetlifeform, The Lurker.Hanging around for a number of months, staying in the background, leeching off information, contributing nothing, finally speaking up only when something is needed.Yeah, that's me. . Don't hate me...Quickly, I'm the cliche middle-aged white guy.Overweight, bald, dead end job, can't quite quit smoking, can't drink the way I used to.Thank the gods I have a killer wife, otherwiseI'd have probably committed suicide years ago.Oh, and I like music.Predomanently rock and roll. Give it whatever labels you want. If it has a melody and a lead break, chances are I'll listen to it. If it's 40 years old or 40 hours old. Some prog.Classical/Orchestra when the mood hits me.Jazz that approaches Rythym and Blues. The important stuff:I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix, base, with the stock4 speakers and iffy head unit. And I'm replacingthem. For the past 6 months or so I've been researchingand planning the sound system upgrade.Step 1. Head unit.Step 2. Save money.Step 3. Components.Step 4. Save more money.Step 5. Amp.Step 6. No poofters.Step 7. Save even more money.Step 8. Amp2 and sub.Or something close to that.I have the money for the head unit saved and readyto spend. I have narrowed down my choices to acouple, and will be asking for people's opinions soon. It's going to be a slow process. I started savingfor the head last Christmas. Hopefully the cash for the components won't take another 9 months. With my tastes, however, it probably will. Finally, not only am I the despised lurker, I'm about to do something that is entirely against good netiquette.Cross posting.I'll be posting this on about 5 different car audio forums. So, if you see me multiple times, sorry. That's all. Thanks for reading. I'll be back to pester all of you for help, input and opinions.C-me,Tim.

We do? I don't think so... Edit: I say so because my idea of cross posting is taking the same post and putting it in different threads on the same site. Which is never a good idea here, as the threads will get merged and one will be deleted. I don't consider taking the same post and putting it on different sites cross posting, that's just taking the same crap and putting it somewhere else. Just wanted to clarify.

If you have a "killer" wife you may not have to contemplate suicide for long. Sleep with one eye open. Welcome to Hell.... Ughhhh I mean GenVibe. P.S. I don't think there are too many car audio enthusiasts here. I know there are a few but your best advice on that may come from Car Audio forums. It seems a lot of people here have the "moon & tunes" package and that's it. Or some of us have the lowly "stock" system

Thank you all for the great welcome!!I'm working on my sophomore post right now,in which I'll be begging for people's head unitthoughts. Hopefully later tonight, but the killer wife justplopped on the couch beside me and curled upto my right side for a snooze. Makes typing a bit more challenging...I do have to admit to my middle-aged out of date-ed-ness, BlueCrush. I'm afraid I don't know what Snapped is. I'm in the middle of nowhere (hell I'm 10 minutes drive outside the middle of nowhere) with no satellite or even an antenna. I get 5 and a half channels. Whateve Snapped is, I'm guessing it ain't too high on the touchy-feely scale.Anyway, thanks again for the great welcome!!
