Temporary Permit!

I hated the Dealership where I bought my Vibe from. They only gave me a 21 day permit. I purchased mine August 17th. The day after I bought my car, I took it to DEQ (Smog Testing) and had my Smog testing & Vin # inspection done. I sent the results back to the Dealership and til this day, they said they haven't gotten the results back which I think they are lying. So, they told me that I have to provide my own permit when the first one expires (21 days)!!! I think it's CRAP because I remember VW giving me up to 3 months when I purchased my Jetta.Besides, it doesn't make sense because if I take my car to DMV to get another permit, I know they are going to ask me for the Vehicle's Registration which I dont have because I just purchased the car. DUUUHHH?!?Can you guys give me any advise on this? I really don't think it should come out of my own pocket since I know that this is the dealership's responsibility...

It is your responsibility now, dealer can only give you a temp for so long by law not how long they want.

They'll give you the 1st permit for 21 days and if I haven't gotten the tags after the 1st permit expires, then they are supposed to give me a 2nd permit for another 21 days.This dealership is very stingy about giving trip permits.

There is no way that mail is that slow. Get another copy and send it to the morons at the dealership that lost it. Is there anyway you can hand carry it to them? I had a registration issue like this with my dealer when I bought the vibe.

wow. sorry to hear that. one thing that i've been told on many occassions (and i've had to do myself) is do not pay the dealer their $400 dealer/doc fees when you can get the paperwork (all loan docs, smog tests, etc) go to the dmv and fill out a title request yourself for about $250. i did this when i bought my 00 Cougar from Seattle and had it shipped up.

just drive around until they get the tags to you.if you get a ticket make the dealership pay you back for it from the $400 fee they charged you.call them dayly to find out where your tags are. annoy the heck out of them is what i would do.honestly if i were you i would just drive in to the dealership and hand the keys to the owner of the place and tell him to take care of it or you wont pay the first car payment.

I just got done talking to the Dealership and said that they have ust receive a big box full of liscense plate. They will sort it out after lunch and hoping mine shows up...

I should have had my tags by now since I mailed the DEQ results 2 weeks ago...no, i ordered the car from a seattle dealer and had it shipped to me in AK. i didn't pay them the dealer doc fees because i did it myself. it really wasn't that hard. i probably should have done it that way this last time, but it was a pain getting everything worked out that i just conceded. but yes, you've paid them their money, they need to deliver and make good what you paid for! hopefully they will get your plates to you with that last shipment. keep us in the loop on how it works out.
