Possible to reuse my 175/70/R13 snows?

Post by mauthner »

I have a complete, and virtually unused, set of mounted and balanced snow tires from my previous car. They are 175/70/R13. Could I use them safely on my new '05 Vibe this winter or are they too small?

As long as they match the lug pattern they will fit. But I would worry that they would be too small for the Vibe. The Vibe would ride lower if the overall diameter is smaller. Also the smaller rims would look really bad in the large wheel wells of the Vibe. IMO.

You really can't do 13's.The lowest you can go AFAIK is 15. The outer diameter being smaller will also throw the speedometer off, in addition to lowering the car's ground clearance.I would NOT do it if I were you.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

175/70/13 is 9% smaller in diameter.60mph would show up as 66mph on your speedometer. 3% is the recommended maximum difference in size. Here is a link to a tire size calculatorhttp://1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

That's true. Also, I don't think 13's will clear the brakes.Quote, originally posted by ragingfish »You really can't do 13's.The lowest you can go AFAIK is 15. Thanks everyone. I won't do it. I'll sell 'em and get some purple neons instead!

I still own an '84 VW Rabbit Convertible that uses 175/70-13's but I don't drive it in the winter!
