Drove a SRT-4 today

Post by 4X4CHICHI »

I test drove a used SRT-4 today at a local dealership. I'll tell you what, very quick car, really nice seats also. It still drove like a little Dodge, I think my lowered GT could out handle it. now if you lowered the SRT-4, upgraded the turbo a little, you would have a bad little vehicle.

Um, yeah, the SRT-4 is a straight line car... not built for handling. If they still make an ACR, that's another matter...

ask VibeChick who sold her Vibe for an SRT-4... sure it was fast straight ahead. But her Vibe kicked its (removed) in handling. Even has a tighter turning radious. And no matter how fast it is... Its STILL a neon

Yeah, the turning radius on the SRT sucks. Parking takes a bit of getting used to.That car is a little rocket though, I wouldn't give it up, it is awesome. I don't think the handling is bad at all. There are people in town here who do autox with them and get excellent times. Lower them, add some coilovers, and they handle fine.

Well autocross in a front wheel drive car can be fun, lots of use of the e-brake to drift out that rear end heh. So any plans to autocross Carrie?Funny I mention you. and here you are.

Yeah, I still snoop around here now and then. Can't resist a thread about the SRT4, of course No autocross for me, this year anyhow. All my money is going to the new house for the next little while. Maybe next summer.

Try to beat an SRT-4 with the stage 3 turbo kit from the factory For maximum power and torque, the Stage 3 Turbo Kit will be the ultimate upgrade for your SRT-4. The Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade Kit (with and without Turbo Toys) boosts power to an awesome 310 hp at 5600 rpm and 325 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3200–4800 rpm. The Stage 3 Kit with Turbo Toys in high-octane mode increases power to an amazing 355 hp at 5200 rpm and 365 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3200–4800 rpm! The Mopar Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System (P4510461) is required to obtain these power figures. http://www-5.mopar.com/street/...3.htm

i wouldn't really say they look nice. but there is a two tone custom painted SRT4 here in town and that one, i must admit, is pretty nice.

I took one on the Interstate on the way back from a car show from a 75mph roll in the GTO, he had 4 people in the car so he was around the same weight, ~3800 lbs. He still had temp tags, so he was most likely stock. Still, for little $$ they are very fast, fast enough to make me leary to taunt one!

There are some SRT4's out there that run low 12's in the 14 mile. On a good day I would run the high 13's. They can be very decieving, A guy on the GTO forum had one into the 12's before he got the Goat, he had only minimal mods. Sometimes you dont know till you have been smoked!!
