I'm am like a worried Mother...

Post by redlava »

I let a friend of mine borrow my Vibe for a few days while hers is getting worked on. It is the first time it has been out of my sight and not parked in the garage. I am sure that nothing will happen to it, but I am a little sick to my stomach knowing that it is across town in a different parking lot. It is probably scared and lonely because of being out on it's own for the first time. Know I have a little taste of parenthood.

Are you nuts!? I wouldn't let my twin brother take my Vibe. He drove it to get ice for a party and I was a wreck till he returned. Hope it comes back to you A-OK.

I let a coworker drive mine just to the other side of the base and back and I was staring out the window the whole time waiting for them to get back!

I know what you mean. I let my older brother borrow my GT a while ago when I went on a trip in someone else's car. I had let him drive it a couple years ago and I remember him trying to get used to the clutch. He stalled and slipped it like crazy several times. I was worried about that when he borrowed it, but everything is still fine. If it had a better clutch or was an auto, I wouldn't mind as much letting others drive my car. But after letting several people drive my Vibe, and they all slipped my clutch a lot, I'm real leary of allowing others to drive it. That's another reason I don't like taking it to dealers or shops for service; they aren't used to the clutch and often slip it. When I do take it in for service, I always watch them work on it. One, because I like to see how things are done and work and two, to just watch my Vibe. My Vibe is currently in the body shop again and since the location is the next town over, they offered to allow me to drop it off in town and they will drive it over to the other location. I told them I'll drive it myself even though it is more inconvenient. So, I feel similar to the way you do about my car.

I know how you feel. I just let the wife take my Vibe today because I have to take her Montana in for a door handle recall fix. I watched the Vibe drive away and kept watching 'til it was out of sight. Pretty sad... that I hardly even trust my own wife! But then again... I've seen her drive! OH NO, MY POOR VIBE!

I don't let ANYONE drive my Vibe... I don't think I could stomach watching it drive away.

It should be back tonight. I am just thankful that the Vibe isn't a manual trans. because her transmission is messed up in her car. The only bad part is that I waxed it this weekend and it ended up raining today so now it is going to be dirty. I trust her for the most part. It is just those instances where the unfamiliarity of a car can cause problems, she told my roommate (her sister) that she kept trying to press the nonexistent clutch in all day. LOL I trust most of my friends with my car because they know how well I take care of it, my roommate doesn't even like riding in it because she is afraid of getting it dirty.

I sure can't talk.My son borrowed our first vibe and totaled it.Our daughter borrowed our second vibe and blew out the pass rear tire on a pothole, and now when it gets up to 60mph it starts to shake until you hit 80mph, so it musta damaged the wheel or axle also. Now NO ONE gets to borrow the vibe ever!
