High Idle at start-up with Vibe after Injen CAI install

Post by kimchimik »

Hi all I installed a Injen CAI and i'm getting a 2k idle on start up and drops as the engine warms up. I live in california so it's not too cold in the morning. I know i have to let the ECU learn i so i'm just wondering how long it takes to have it return to normal idle it has been 3 days now, is this something to worry about or am i just being too impatient?

Did you remove the negative lead from the battery and let it sit about 15min? I didn't but still didn't notice this, but from what I've heard you are supposed to.

It still idles at 2k rpm on start-up? That surely isn't right. Did you move or adjust the throttle cable any?

Not sure about you guys but my Vibe has always idled high, around 1500-1800RPM on initial start up until ithe engine warmed up and then it would drop under 1000RPM. Sounds louder with the intake...

It's normal. You have to be driving the car for about a week for the ECU to learn. Not just driving it a couple times in a few days. The more you drive it the faster it will learn.

No i did not adjust the throtle or anything. The only thing i did was clean the MAF sensor with some carbarator cleaner but i left that out to try for an hour before i put it back in.But if you guys are saying a week i guess i should plan a long road trip this weekend and get it out of the way.
