Bought New Vibe...now to make some changes!

Post by Cougar Vibe »

I got my new Vibe yesterday (2005 Moostone AWD) and I'm commencing a few minor upgrades. I've already ordered splash guards and I'm researching bras (hmmm...); I'm leaning towards the one from Carbras.com, but I don't want a massive hood cover. I wouldn't bother with a car bra but with winter coming on soon, and the fact that a 3M kit/installation is over $600, I'm sort of without options. (Note: I really hope the stories here about installing the Carbras bra are exagerations...I really don't have the patience to wrestle with a massive number of clips). As for other projects, I'm heading to Lowe's later on today to get some materials for an el cheapo cargo mat. Besides a nice, thick Mother's California wax job and an hour removing annoying window streaks, my day is spent.A couple of "negative notes" though: First, I too got an out-of-state transfer vehicle that had the front license place mount already installed (gee, thanks for the two holes and two indentations!). Second, my rear passenger windows seem a bit "loose" in the tracks (while cleaning the edges I noticed they move around a fair bit). Other than that, nothing else...but then again, I've only got 64 miles on it.BTW: My previous vehicle was a 2000 Explorer with 97K on it...talk about a car with no residual value (even in pristine comsmetic/mechanical shape). Add $3.25/gallon gas to the mix and I'm really glad I got into something more reliable (Toyota-ish) and with good gas mileage. Also, the extra $1,000 buyer incentive for 2005's & the $1,000 "Conquest" allowance didn't hurt either. Thanks for any advice or comments you guys might want to make!Cougar Vibe

The window is normal. They do that moving around thing right off the lot.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

The "Conquest" allowance/cash incentive is some GM program where, if you trade in a non-Pontiac (maybe even non-GM) vehicle on a Vibe, you get an additional $1,000.If I hadn't gotten that allowance, I would have probably went with the FWD rather than an AWD; however, the difference was like $400 after the "Conquest" incentive. Here's what I got for allowances: $2,400 "GM Employee yada-yada," $1,000 "2005 Clearance Incentive" & $1,000 "Conquest Incentive." Throw in that I got twenty percent more for my trade-in than the other Pontiac dealers (and VW too - I was looking at Jetta TDI's) were offering, and I'm fairly happy with the whole transaction.Cougar Vibe

Thanks...as for the GM bra, my only concern was the warranty; Since I currently live in PA and we get some pretty bad winters (and of course, too much gravel & de-icing), I want something that has a 5-year warranty. If the GM bra did that, I would go with it for ease of installation.Finding a carbra is more complicated than I thought...at least my splash guards will be here tomorrow.
