How much?

Post by ColonelPanic »

What does a new set of front brake pads and rotors cost for a base anyway? Haven't looked around for prices yet, I so I figured I'd check here first. The rotors look to be pretty rough, they've got some pretty nice grooves cut into them. Who knows, maybe they can be turned, but from what I've seen in the past, they aren't giving you much room to play with these days - and with close to 60K on 'em that's probably even further out of the question.I've put brakes on every car I've had thus far, should I continue that trend with this one, or should I let someone else deal with it? If it's not easily doable, how much am I looking at to have the "pros" take care of it?So, if you wouldn't mind, for those who have had your pads and rotors replaced, how much for the pads and what type? How 'bout the rotors? And how much for having someone else take care of it for me if the need presents itself?

Yeah, I wish I could get rid of the damn thing, but no such luck. I still have some GM Protection Plan payments due through November so I really don't want to continue to pay for an extended warranty on a car that I no longer own. I don't know what I'm going to do with it at this point. I still have 30,000 miles of warranty left. The sadistic ******* in me wants to keep the car and make the dealer's life a living hell for a while longer... hehehehe YOU FIX, YOU FIX NOW, YOU FIX EVERY WEEK!!! HA HA HA! AutoZone has rotors for $51.99 each and a set of unknown brand ceramic pads for $37... Pep Boys has Raybestos rotors made in the US for $57.60 each, but they do not stock them, special order only. They have a whoever import brand that they do have in stock for $49.99 each. Raybestos QuietStop ceramic pads for $43.99. Not in stock at the local store but they can get 'em from another local store or have them ordered and arrive the next day.Pep Boys it is. I'll get the cheap rotors and the QuietStop pads, that should work for now...That was easy. Now, where the hell do I get the money to pay for this crap?
