I'm seriously considering this intake. I had good luck with my two previous K&N offerings. They both improved performance noticeably.FIPK for 99 Eclipse GS-T SpyderFIPK for 95 Camaro Z28

I wish I could find a before / after dyno chart on this product....It sounds like an easier install than the Injen.

Lorin, I would expect its performance to be similar to all other high flow filter kits. Since its a shorty type, maybe 3-8HP at the wheels is my "guess".Jason

I installed a fuel injection performance kit (Gen ll) on my Sonoma 99 Highrider, the increase in horsepower was awesome.

This does look nice and seems easy to install but for less money you can buy the Injen or AEM intake and get more HP. They may be a little harder to install but the lower price and more HP should make up for it.

I think I probably will end up with an Injen intake. Right now, I only have 300 miles on the car and I'm still developing my upgrade strategy on what I want to upgrade first. I've already ruled out an exhaust - almost no bang for the buck. I probably will start with the Injen, then add either a strut brace or rear sway bar. Then on to sound...The biggest problem is I'm enrolled in an MBA program besides working full time, I have to plan my upgrades around my class schedule!

If you want a short ram intake, you can always get one from AEM I believe.

I was seriously consdering installing a CAI...I've had this rush of "mod my car!" energy since I successfully changed out my horns. But this looks waaaaaay to complicated and risky...and if the Injen or AEM are harder, then (removed)! Can anyone tell me, for a person who has NEVER messed with their engine (I don't even know how to change my own oil), is trying to put this in just asking for trouble?

I think the instructions look harder than it actually is. I think anyone with some basic mechanical skils should be able to do it without a problem.

This may sound like a dumb question but will the base Vibe take the same intake? I have not seen a GT engine compartment and I am not sure if they are set up the same. And I don't want to spend the $$$$ if it will not work for my car.

No, the base vibe and the GT have different engines and use different intakes.

quote:define basic mechanical skills? loli've never worked under the hood of a car...Basically, you have to find all the bolts that hold down the air box and undo them. Disconnect the various sensors and then slowly pull the unit out. Installing the new one is easier since you know what has to be mounted and which parts to reuse. On a scale of 1 to 10, this would be a 2 or 3. I consider a one being changing headlights or something simple to 10 being a turbo kit.

Very tempting to just go at it...just afraid I might break somethign or screw it up and then the car will be annhilated, and THAT would not be covered under warranty, now would it. lol.
