Is water a concern with a CAI?

I was just curious, if water is a concern if you have installed a CAI? The original air intake has a water trap to prevent water from reaching the engine, but I didn't see a trap on any of the pictures of CAIs you guys have posted. If I install a CAI, do I need to fear puddles?

dont get a bypass valve.. u dnt need it unless your ever gunna have the whole pipe submerged in water.. pluss u have to cut into the intake.. and u lose horsies

...i was thinking abou this, 2 things.1. how are they in the winter in the snow? (starting the car and having 2+ feet of snow)2. sooooo if MN floods im @#$#@$#ed.

Winter in snow? No problem. I used to drive 400+ miles across MT with mine on and never once even had the car sputter. Never had a problem with starting in weather WELL below 0F either.As for the flooding, if you drive through more than 3 feet of standing water, yes you're screwed. Remember that the filter has to be completely submerged (we're talking a lot of water) to suck up enough to do any major damage. If you hit that much water you'll likely have big problems no matter what intake you have.

lol exactly, i was just thinking of doing a snorkle system well this mod is the plan for next summer or when i get 200 dollars free...so prolly after ps3 comes out :/ . thnx millster

I had zero problems with mine last winter. In fact the Vibes love the cold air soo much that mine had better acceleration in extreme cold temps (-20F) than any other time.

yep, no probs with my CAI either winters in the snow and ice. only the battery! lol

be careful of ebrake slides. make sure you have plenty of room in case you over correct (speaking from experience)

trdvibe - yea i saw ur bumper after you...cough did that thing with the sliding...cough maybe ill just take it on the lake in the winter and do dounuts. but then i would have to worry about falling through ice so i would need a car life jacket....wonder how much those are
