So I picked up the Latest Consumer Reports today and automaticly went the the car section like I always do, and there it was, Taking up a forth of my sight, the Dodge Caliber. Consumer Reports had this to say:"What is it? The Caliber is a small fivedoor hatchback that should compete with vehicles such as the Pontiac Vibe and the Chevy HHR.""CR's intake: Initially deleloped jointly with Mitsubishi, the Caliber should replace the long-running Neon. Its raised seating position should give it a commanding view and distingguish it from sedan competitors"Personally, I think it is ugly and I believe has no chance if making a run with the Vibe.

Good luck with that theory. Dodge has a lot of support and a lot of people like that look. Personally, I think the new Charger is hideous and this is following right behind it, but I can see it selling plenty, same as the Durango.

If the price is right, maybe . . . .

Oh god, seeing Hyundai had their hands in the engine design, it's not gonna last the test drive, let alone 100,000 miles!* heh. (removed)(*I don't believe that, but I just wanted to say that before someone else did, because I knew someone would.) lolSerioulsy though, while I think this is an ok vehicle, Chrysler made the same damn mistake Pontiac made. I'm sorry, but you don't whack a coupe and sedan both which sold well, (well pontiac still kept the sunfire coupe around to die a painful, lengthy death) and replace it with a friggin' wagon. There are people out there who don't want a "suv/crossover/wagon/whatever" type vehicle and would rather have a sedan or coupe instead. Bummer, you just alienated a shload of buyers! They need a coupe, sedan, and this. Just like I think Pontiac could do good by having our cars, plus a small sedan and coupe thrown into the mix for those looking for a small Pontiac that don't want a wagon. Just mho, of course.

Yep, they do sell well. I was thinking smaller though, in size and price tag. Although I really don't know how much cheaper a Neon is compared to a Stratus, may not be much for all I know. lol

Ahh... well when you put it like that. I still think this rig will end up being my next vehicle. I'm counting on my car holding out until it's paid off, but after that...
remember, just because the neon might be going away, it doesn't mean that the turbo 2.4 is also. i'm sure that that engine will make it's way into that car. they will likely call it the R/Tcompared to the choices we have, and the deeper pockets of daimler...very likely, a good seller.
I've seen a few places speculating that they will jump straight in with a Dodge Caliber SRT-4, skipping the R/T all together.Brief article here: http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/s...1.php

I'm going to switch back into four door sedan mode for a while after this, but I would actually consider this car if I was wanting another vehicle of this variety. In fact, the first Chrysler product I've ever found myself saying "I wouldn't mind having one of those!"

I love those wheels! I think it still looks good. The way Dodge is putting that truck look on all their cars is so-so to me. I'd like to see the interior. If that was available when I was shopping for my Vibe several years ago, I would have considered it.

I do like the design. I will have to wait for the pricing to make up my mind. But I think it would be a great replacement for the Vibe if and when the time comes to get rid of it. And with the way the price is increasing on the Vibe By the time I am ready for another new car it will cost about 32,000 for a base.
