Gear shift light?

My brother inlaw just bought a vibe and had a question. Is there supposed to be a light on the gear shift? So you can see the gears that you are changing when it is dark.I know dumb question.Thanks in advance.

There is on the automatic tranny shifter.I assume the light isn't working, I found this thread http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=14014 with the search function, it would be a good starting point

i hope he doesnt need one for a stick shift. and no there isnt one one manual trannys.
