I see that with the inclusion of the ABS option on the '05 one has included the "Tire Pressure Monitoring System". I dont think I have seen much discussion of this feature. Seems like a good idea...if it works as advertised.
Yup, it works! It uses the abs to detect tire rotation. If all tires are inflated to the same psi your good. If one tire has (I think it's 2-3psi)more air than the others then that tire will rotate at a slower rate than the others and will trigger the tire pressure warning indicator. If one of the tires has 2-3psi less air than the others it will rotate at a faster rate than the others and will again trigger the indicator. I guess if all your tires lose air at the same time you'll be riding on four flats and you're SOL. Then it is time to get new tires(ha, ha).

It also allows you to "reset" the system whenever you fill up the tires, get new ones, get one repaired, etc. and it recalibrates itself to the tire conditions when reset. It does have limitations, like BlueCrush noted, including if you lose the amount of pressure in both tires on one side of the car it won't detect it.

My 2004 Vibe with ABS supposedly has this Tire Pressure Monitoring System. There's nothing about it in the manual, though. What does the warning light look like? Is it the ABS light while the car is running? Thanks!

That's why it's not in your manual. This was a new feature introduced with the 2005 model year.
