*sigh* After a couple problem free days with the Vibe (I guess that's too much to ask for), I get out to it tonight and find the roof rail gutter molding thingy (the black piece that runs from under the roof rack up to the top of the windshield) was sticking up.I was messing around with it and got the piece to pop off (that wasn't intentional, actually.) There appears to be only one small cheesy clip that holds this thing on at the front, which I can get the piece to snap into. The problem appears to be that the molding itself has become warped. It bows upward and doesn't follow the contour of the roof anymore. So I need to replace this piece... Anybody have the part number and the price? I doubt it's covered under the extended warranty so I'm on my own here.

Also, mine is like this as well, and has been since the car was about 2 months old. So I'm wondering what causes it, or what could have caused mine to do it so early and his to do it so late....
I've had mine replaced 3 times now (thank God for the warrenty) ... Tried to convince the dealer to use some sort of glue or double stick tape to hold the molding in place but they wouldn't -said that if it didn't come on the part then they aren't authorized to do it - UGH ... The problem is the little plastic clips are not strong enough to prevent warping, or in my case, catching on high curbs. I have spoken to Customer Service about this but they say there isn't anything they can do do other than replace the molding. If it makes you feel any better the dealer told me they have the problems with some Cadillacs
I figured the clips were to blame, they look pretty whimpy. And there is only the one at the front, so apparently where it doesn't have anything to hold it down, that looks like where the damage is ocurring. If I can get another piece of molding, I'll try to rig something up to hold the thing down better. The only concern I have with taping it would be that it wouldn't allow water to drain out of it gets down there, so I'll have water standing, then eventually rust.

Mine did that. It's not a disasterOnce the front is unclipped, it just slides out from under the roof rack. It doesn't provide any water seal, it is just an appearance piece. I suppose it could prevent large chuncks of stuff from getting under the roof rack.Take it off and see if you can bend it back into shape. If not, lay it on something that's more or less is the shape you want the trim piece to be in in. If it's in the sun, then it will reshape faster. next morning it will be that shape. Then put it back on, and make sure it's clipped in there well. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't come loose again. Took me several tries, I'd think I had it in there right, and it would come loose gain. Been 5 months so far and no more troubles with it.Quote, originally posted by EGlickman »The problem is the little plastic clips are not strong enough to prevent warping, or in my case, catching on high curbs. I have to assume we are talking about different moldings here. ColonelPanic is talking about the plastic strip on the roof that goes from the windwhield to the roof rack, one on each side, on the roof of the car. I can't imagine how you'd catch that piece on high curbs.
