I was thinking the same thing when I saw it the other day. Of course I'm just twisted that way. I used to work with a guy who could make the most incredibly real cricket sound. We worked in a large plumbing warehouse so you can imagine how well it echoed around. He used to drive people nuts trying to figure out where the cricket was.

Of course, people could just ignore this thing like they would a smoke detector with a weak battery, so maybe it wouldn't be a wise investment. (removed)!

radio shack had a build it yourself one of these that sounded like a cricket many years ago.

I was thinking about that once I saw the cost of this thing... It should be easily doable for dirt cheap at the shack.

My college roommate and I did something similar so somebody in the dorms. But we used a remote finder with a wireless transmitter for our dirty work. We hid it in a wall outlet behind his fridge. We would take turns pressing the button every 15 to 20 minutes. Drove him nuts for about three weeks.
