I was watching Pimp my Ride the other day on Mtv and those crazy guys at West Cast Customs threw a freakin massive Jackhammer sub in the back of some joke (removed) brke ride. I htink the sub weighted 350 pounds needed like 6 amps. Some crazy stuff like that. What a waste.
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/485204 Mods: Lowes Mat in the trunk area, 6 1/2"Rockford Fosgate Fanatic P in the front, Pioneer 6 1/2" 3 ways in the back, JVC KD-LH810, Grafxwerks stuff, Chrome Lugs, Yakima Roof Rack, LandShark, LoadWarior, Bedmount Bike Rack (fits nicely in tracks) and BarrCrafter Snowboard racks
yeah, I saw that too. They installed a decible meter that flashes when the sound gets dangerously loud. Kinda silly, but then again... that's the point of the show. They painted the car an ugly flat black. Guess it was pimped more for sound than looks.
I used to be an audiophile that was into the 15" MTX subs, but man! That jackhammer is beyond insane! Here are the highlights if anyone wants to see it:http://www.realmofexcursion.co...1.wmv

Hopefully you can turn it off for the times that you actually want to hear the music you are playing without getting an embolism. I agree that is a waste of space. But you don't really go on that show expecting them to fix all of your dented bodywork and put some new wheels on. I would be motivated to drive to the nearest electronic intaller and have it removed and then sold on e-bay.
That's just sick! My god... the woofer... you'd need a wagon to really use that beast! Oh, and a suspension upgrade!!Bass so loud your guts turn to goo... Yeah MTV Pimp my intestines!
You'd have to be an audio fan to enjoy something like that. I guarentee the new 15" Eclise line thats out would blow that away. The Creative Honda Civic si has one in the back on its showroom, they have to clear the room and hold the computers because it makes everything fall off the shevles and the computers on the counters slide around. I love going in there and making them turn that on and watching the faces of people outside in their cars that can feel it.

well, i can;'t imagine anything out ther more powerfull. it got over 130 db's that's oud. an F-18 makes that around afterburner. i should know. i used to launch them.did they upgrade his suspension too?? 300lbs?? (removed)!
I had a thought after watching that though.... electrical guru's help me out here. They said they were putting what? 8000 watts into it from 5 amps & batteries? Ok.Now my basic math tells me that that thing is (theoretically) sucking up some 666 AMPS of DC juice. Noting that the capacitors were pretty much at 11.2, and figuring the lower output because of it, that's still around 600A draw.5 spiral cell batteries to power it - no problem.BUTHow the HELL is that engine recharging those things?????? Even if they put some monster 200A alternator into that thing (and on a 4 banger that'd be fun) we're still talking a good 400A shortfall while the sub is running. 400A draw nearly constant will suck those batteries dry in a pretty short time methinks.... Not knowing exactly what those batteries were capable of, I'm still thinking you could probably only get around 10 minutes play time (as long as the engine was running). More like 1 or 2 minutes without it. Thoughts?

he probably had one or prolly atlest 2 high output altranators put under the hood, if not i hope his car doesn't die when he's rolling through downtown showing that system off

I saw that show too. They needed a fork lift to get that thing in the the shop and an engine lift to get it in the car. The thing is sick. I would not want to be next to it at a stop light.
