The air conditioner making funny noise.

Hello all, the a/c is making a funny noise when you turn it on,high or low iIts like a whinning and humming noise,Has anybody had this problem, Its a 2003 Vibe Base 40,098mi

Can you tell approximately where the noise originates? Any ideas if it may be something such as the blower, or perhaps the A/C compressor itself? Does the noise stay when switching off the A/C, or does it go away? If it goes away when turning the A/C off, you may have a dying compressor. I'm on my third now, as I was hearing quite a racket coming from the A/C compressor anytime the A/C was on. If it stays regardless of A/C operation, I would start investigating issues with the blower. Not sure how possible this scenario is with these cars, but I've had a problem in the past on another car with some really obnoxious noises coming from the blower motor, which changed with fan speed. Took the blower out and found one lone leaf was the source of the commotion. Feel free to skim through the saga and see if my issues were the same or different from yours.
