Roof caps painted and installed *pics*

Post by Merzbow »

I got my caps painted for $100 by a friend of mine. The color is matched almost perfectly. He is a god at body work and he's only 18. They came out really nice, although painting the roof caps really brought out all the flaws in the fiberglass like pin holes and te waviness of it. It's not a big deal, I can live with it. Excuse the dirt and dust, I'm waiting to detail it in full this Saturday before the Dream Cruise. Here are a couple pictures. I still have to buy longer screws and paint them black but I think it is a wonderful look. You can also see my new custom plate "SLMDVBE". Of course it's not slammed yet because of the ebay situation but give it a few more weeks...

Too bad the $100 didn't include some fiberglass prep work. I can't tell from the photos - looks great! The plates are cool, too!

Looks real good. What other plans do you have for it?

(removed), those Kias are ugly!!! my bad.Now the caps are freshly painted and beautiful whereas the rest of the car is faded so I'll have ot bust out the claybar before winter strikes. There was a big 4mm chip on the left cap that my friend must have taken care of because I did not notice it while installing. Pretty much all fiberglass work has alot of imperfetions so I'm not too worried about the pin holes. I'm going to wet sand the whole car and that should take care of all that and teh scratches left there by the idiots at my school. Since I'm finally outa there I think it's safe to start restoring the car to perfect condition (and its only 3 years old!)As far as future plans, you can visit my cardomain, but a short list is a midgate spoiler, wheels, and maybe a set of Corolla seats. I do have a set of S-Tech lowering springs on the way but those have been pending since July 3rd so I'm thinking they are not going to make it here!!! That's pretty much it for the VIbe unless I start making alot more money I will invest in a turbo but for now that's it. I'm also looking for a second project car. One to drive in the winter and to and from school so the Vibe lasts longer. I also want to restore whatever I get to prectice my skills. Then i can start doing crazy custom fiberglass stuff to the Vibe.

I was not much of a fan of the Sephia. However, here is your Sephia, in sepia.

However, I do admit that I like what ultimately became the replacement of the Sephia, the Spectra5. Here is a Spectra5 in sepia.

I'm sure hoping you mean claybar and not wet sanding. I'm pretty sure wet sanding will remove your paint entirely...PS: I happen to the new sportage (shown here in sepia of course!)

(removed) thanks everyone for the Kias in Sepia!I'm not touching my car with sandpaper, if I have it done my friend that painted hte caps will do it. He knows what he's doing. He wet sanded both his '84 Hurst Olds and refinished them, then painted on the pin stripes himself. VERY nice looking.
