OEM Factory Speakers

Post by sselzler »

Just a funny thing: wondering if anyone else had to do this, or if they had another way...I just installed a 1200watt Kicker system into my '03 Vibe GT last night, and found an interesting yet agrivating factory speaker mounting design. The damned thing had machine screws with a fiberglass/plastic mounting cone around it!Now, how the hell can someone do a quick speaker fix with that thing there? I came to an easy and amusing way of fixing this problem: one hammer, and wood carver! I just beat the **** out of these speakers and encasements 'till the whole thing was demolished and GONE. My OEM speakers are now laying on my garage floor in the form of near sawdust...scarry thing to do at first...but it was worth every second! Now I'm just curious: would there have been an easier way for me to remove these enclosures mounting these stupid speakers? The guy who designed these things mounted in the door must have been laughing his (removed) off! HOW THE HELL SHOULD I HAVE DONE THIS TO BEGIN WITH?!?!? hahaha...considering I don't have a tool that just removes machine screws.May the pleasure be all mine-Stevo

Just drill out the rivets and remove the factory speakers complete with plastic mounting bracket. Circuit has plastic adapters to mount the new ones. Or you can cut the factory speakers out of the original mounting brackets and use them. There has been much discussion about this before. Do a search if you want to read more.

Yup, either drill out the rivets or destroy the OEMs and use those as brackets. You only need brackets in the front, pretty much anything should fit fine in the rear.

I took the guts out of the old speaker and used it as a mount for the new ones. I put up quite a few pics on this thread on speaker replacement quite a while ago:Speakers
