I agree with everyone else, the GM employee discount reeled me in coupled with Toyota's arrogance at wheeling and dealing. The Vibe also looks better. I've had mine about 2 weeks and absolutely love it. It's amazing how it swallows my mountain bike whole.

I realized the Vibe/Matrix connection when I was trying to narrow down our choices. (I was down to Vibe, Matrix, PT Cruiser, Mazda3...) When we got down to vibe or matrix, I liked the price and options of the used one we bought. I also liked the exterior styling over the Matrix. (I'd see a Corolla coming down the street and mistake it for a Matrix. There's no mistaking the Vibe.

My wife and I searched and searched for a new(er) car and origionally wanted to get a Mazda Protege 5 but they are just so hard to find here unless you buy out of the newspaper. I've always liked the look of a nice hatchback waggon of this erra. I wanted something that I could modify to look really sweet and my wife wanted something that was safe and dependable. She ABSOLUTELY HATED the Matrix...I think it was because her Mother owned one. I test drove a 2003 Frosty Monotone vibe that was lowered and hooked up with the body kit and all, and I was quite impressed. I didn't want that one because there was no telling what kind of damage the prior owner did while attempting to street race the thing. There were major scratches on the undercarraige if that's any clue. I didn't think my wife would like the vibe because of how much it resembles the Matrix, but one day we were out looking at cars at a Toyota dealer and my wife spotted our Vibe. It was used, but in great condition. Plus it was stock and left me with all kinds of possibilities. My wife actually pointed out the Vibe and said that she wants it. So we got it and that's that.I also wanted to mention that this Toyota Dealership (Bell Road Toyota) was the friendliest and most helpful dealership I have ever experienced. For example: We didn't have any of the required documents to get financing with us at the time of our visit, because we weren't set on buying anything that day. The salesman actually followed us in our vibe to our apartment (aprox. 20 Miles) to make sure that we had everything we needed to get proper financing. Then we all rode in the vibe back to the dealer and left my POS car at the apartment. We did all the paperwork and drove home in the Vibe an hour later. The next day we got word that they found us financing and we were happy as hell to have the new car.
